This tutorial, which is based on the Beilstein update BS0202PR (May, 2002) and on the retrieval program Cro.ssFire Commander V6,. shows. some typical advanced search examples in the Beilstein database. It is assumed that the user already knows some of the basic features of the retrieval program. Moreover, in this tutorial the CrossFire Structure Editor is used instead of the (SIS/Draw Structure Editor. The first example is a combined application of structure aiM fact retrieval, whereas the second example demonstrates reaction retrieval. [Pg.249]

The basic ILLINET Online Network (Illinois Online Network) was used as the major computer-assisted information retrieval program. Within this network IBIS (Illinois Bibliographic Information Service), which provides abstracts taken from journal articles published from 1991 through December 1993, and CARL UnCover (Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries), which provides titles to journal articles published in 1988 through December 1993, afforded much of the current and recent information reported on here. Abstracts of the pertinent literature published from 1982 through mid-1993 were also obtained directly from CA (Chemical Abstracts). It is hoped that the overlap provided this way assures the broadest retrieval of published results. All of these sources were searched by means of the following key words ... [Pg.1123]

One of the most serious limitations in the application of these powerful GC/MS and LC/MS systems is the accurate and efficient identification of this flood of unknown mass spectra. A variety of computer-assisted techniques have been proposed (2, 3, 4), which can be classified generally as "retrieval" or "interpretive programs (2). The former matches the unknown mass spectrum against a data base of reference spectra the ultimate limitation of this approach is the size of the data base, which currently contains the mass spectra of 33,000 different compounds (j>, 6), less than 1% of the number listed by Chemical Abstracts. If a satisfactorily-matching reference spectrum cannot be found by the retrieval program, an interpretive algorithm can be used to obtain partial or complete structure information, or to aid the human interpreter in this task (7-10). [Pg.120]

However, almost any unknown will contain some substructures which are well-represented in the reference file. Because of this, useful substructural information can be obtained from retrieval program results, as the best-matching compounds often show structural features similar to those of the unknown. For example, SISCOM (which recognizes structural Similarity COding Multiple matching factors) provides such substructural information as well as a matching capability (4). "Pattern recognition" (19J is a... [Pg.121]

You should familiarize yourself with your computer before attempting to type in a program. Learn the statements you use to store and retrieve programs from tape or disk. You ll want to save a copy of your program so that you won t have to type it in every time you want to use it. Learn to use your machine s editing functions. How do you change a line if you made a mistake You can always retype the line, but you should at least know how to delete characters. Do you know how to enter reverse-video, lowercase, and control characters It s all explained in your manual. [Pg.268]

Click on the button retrieve sequences to transfer the list of orthologs to the form of the sequence retrieval program. [Pg.295]

Users will still be able to retrieve a record based on the accession number alone, without having to specify a particular version. In that case, the latest version of the record will be obtained by default, which is the current behavior for queries using Entrez and other retrieval programs. [Pg.30]

The first step was to create a program for structure and reaction drawing independent of the retrieval programs. We called it reaction box or RXNBOX (Figure 1). [Pg.362]

A reaction retriever program is applicable to all four types of syntheses A synthesizer program applies primarily to the P class of problem, althougn a forward working synthesizer would apply to SM problems The applicability of these programs by synthesis type is summarized in Figure 2 ... [Pg.182]

A synthesizer retrieves reactions according to functionality or substructure of the target molecule so fewer keys are needed than for a retriever program which requires entry by product reactants reaction type etc. Therefore file organization for one program is not necessarily optimal for the other. [Pg.184]

Furthermore while an incompletely described reaction may be usefully Included in a retriever program it could be... [Pg.184]

Retrieval programs are expensive and usually long-term studies. Some of the precautions that have to be considered in order to plan and execute a successful retrieval study are described below. [Pg.180]

Quality data in structural databases is a prerequisite for successful retrieval. The best retrieval program will fail if the query string does not correspond with the string which has... [Pg.1328]

The space group and the Wyckoff sequence (see Section 2.10) reflect the symmetry at the sites of the atoms making up a structure. Statistical investigation, easily done using suitable retrieval programs (see Section 8) highlights the preferred combinations of symmetry elements in certain classes of structure. [Pg.1334]

RA-search is a computer-based text retrieval program developed by Reedy Engineering. It contains fiiU text searching and viewing capabilities of the more than 6,000 ASME Interpretations published that relate to the Codes and Standards listed below. [Pg.907]

We have also developed search and retrieval programs which allow us to extract connection tables and biological data for use in various data analysis systems. [Pg.180]
