Resists polymers/copolymers applied

The sensor system was applied to the quantification of solvent-resistance of BPA-HQ-RS polycarbonate copolymers in chloroform, THF, and MEK. In a typical experiment, the 6 x 4 sensor array was periodically immersed into the wells containing copolymers in respective solvents. The analytically useful frequency changes were measured upon sensor removal from the solvent and solvent evaporation. Comparison of solvent-resistance of copolymers in the solvents is presented in Fig. 19.6 where data were obtained from measurements of sensor signal change after 46-48 min from the beginning of the experiment. Copolymer solvent-resistance is represented as the absolute sensor frequency shift per mass of polymer in each well... [Pg.462]

The carboxylated polymers [476,499] include acrylic, methacrylic or maleic acid polymers (all obviously anionic in character) applied mainly from aqueous emulsion and particularly in combination with crease-resist or durable press resins. This type of chemistry has already been discussed in section 10.8.2. A particularly common example is the copolymer of acrylic acid with ethyl acrylate (10.247). In general the best balance of properties is obtained with 75-85% ethyl acrylate (y) and 25-15% acrylic acid (x), with an average chain length of about 1300 (x + y) units 65-85% ethyl acrylate with 35-15% methacrylic acid is also suitable. When the content of the acidic comonomer increases above about 30% the durability to washing tends to decrease, whilst longer chains tend to give a stiffer handle [499]. [Pg.267]

Modem floor finishes contain mixtures of ingredients that when applied as a liquid dry to give a clear, durable film coating. Most floor finishes are combinations of polymers blended to provide unique and desirable characteristics such as durability, gloss retention, resistance to scuffing, fast-drying, and ease of removal. Polymers made up of more than one monomer or repeating unit are called copolymers. [Pg.125]

As for the epoxy polymers, a quantitative comparison of the contact fatigue behaviour was attempted on the basis of an estimate of the maximum tensile stress at the edge of the contact. The coefficient of friction of the copolymers increased as the tests proceeded, with a variation which was dependent upon the level of the normal loading. As a first approach, the value of //. at crack initiation was taken into account in the calculation of a . The results are reported in a S-N fatigue diagram giving the maximum applied tensile stress as a function of the number of cycles to crack initiation (Fig. 23). These data show a marked increase in the contact fatigue resistance of the GIM copolymers compared with the MIM material. [Pg.187]

Ethanox 376 is a stabilizer that provides heat stability by preventing thermo-oxidative degradation during processing and service life. It provides compatibility with resins and extraction resistance. It can be applied in polyolefins, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene-1 and other polymers such as engineering plastics, styrenes, polyurethanes, saturated and unsaturated elastomers, styrenics, rubber modified styrenics, segmented block copolymers, and PVC. [Pg.88]

This analysis technology was applied to screening of chemosensitive properties of polyanilines and copolymers of anilines and aniline derivatives. Combinatorial libraries were prepared by electrically addressed polymerization.42 43 Gaseous hydrogen chloride was selected as an analyte. The measured signal was electrical resistance detected simultaneously by 2 and 4-point techniques (s24 technique44,52), and the ratio of these values provides information on the contribution of the polymer/contact resistance into the total resistance measured by 2-point configuration. [Pg.324]

Amorphous copolymers of TFE are soluble in special halogenated solvents and can be applied to surfaces as a polymer solution to form thin coatings. The dried coating is as resistant to almost as many chemicals as PTFE is. ... [Pg.1031]
