Resin kit

The directions for thorough mixing of the reagents in disposable plastic beakers are included with commercially available resin kits. Most embedding media are toxic, requiring the use of chemical hoods. In addition, certain reagents can cause dermatitis and thus require the use of gloves. [Pg.213]

The M291 resin kit and 0.5% hypochlorite for chemical casualty decontamination are currently fielded by the U.S. military. The M291 kit is new, whereas hypochlorite solution has been around since World War I. The M291 kit is our best universal dry decontaminant for skin. Fresh 0.5% hypochlorite solution with an alkaline pH is our universal liquid decontaminating agent and is recommended for all biological agents. [Pg.353]

Polyester Resin Kit. The proper shipping name Polyester resin kit covers different kits such as filler, bonding and sealing compounds, chemical anchors and fibreglass repair kits. A polyester resin kit commonly consists of an unsaturated polyester resin mixed with styrene and a separate hardener (usually a phlegmatized organic peroxide) as a minor component. The main component (viscous liquid or paste) is inherently flammable due to the styrene content (flash point 29°C to 32°C). ICAO A2, lATA App. A... [Pg.191]

The M291 military resin kit may be used for skin decontamination (avoid the eyes) (Figure 2.7). The resin, which both removes the agent and also neutralizes it, leaves a black marking when it absorbs the chemical agent. [Pg.41]

Aromatic diacyl peroxides such as dibenzoyl peroxide (BPO) [94-36-0] may be used with promoters to lower the usehil decomposition temperatures of the peroxides, although usually with some sacrifice to radical generation efficiency. The most widely used promoter is dimethylaniline (DMA). The BPO—DMA combination is used for hardening (curing) of unsaturated polyester resin compositions, eg, body putty in auto repair kits. Here, the aromatic amine promoter attacks the BPO to initially form W-benzoyloxydimethylanilinium benzoate (ion pair) which subsequentiy decomposes at room temperature to form a benzoate ion, a dimethylaniline radical cation, and a benzoyloxy radical that, in turn, initiates the curing reaction (33) ... [Pg.223]

The diabetic rats were treated with 18 IU of bovine insulin imbibed into polyacid resins b.i.d. orally using 1 cc syringes and gavage tubes. After 14 days of treatment the rats were sacrificed about 1.5 hours after the last dose. Blood samples were taken and assayed for immunoactive insulin activity (Amersham-Searie RIA kit) and serum glucose levels (glucose oxidase colorimetric assay, Sigma 510 Glucose Kit). [Pg.217]

Normal Rabbits. Six male, white rabbits (2.5 - 3.0 kg) were housed individually. Animals were fasted overnight for 16 hours (with access to water) prior to each experiment to reduce the gastrointestinal content and absorption variability. After treatment with either a control dose or experimental insulin in poly(acrylic acid) resin dose, a one week washout period was required before the next experiment. The protocol called for blood samples to be taken from an indwelling ear catheter at -1, -.5, -.25, +.5, +1, +1.5, +2, +3, +4, +5 and +6 hours. Serum glucose levels were determined by an oxidase colorimetric method using the Sigma 510 Glucose Kit. [Pg.217]

M291 Skin Decontamination Kit This kit is used to decontaminate the soldier s hands, face, ears, and neck. Packets in the kit consist of a foil-laminated fiber material containing a reactive resin. It replaces the M258A1 Skin Decontamination Kit. [Pg.322]

Should the antibody purification nevertheless be desirable, one can use the Ab-Select Purification Kit (also from Innova Biosciences, http //www.innovabio-sciences.com/products/abselect.php) that quickly removes the contaminants, such as BSA, glycine, tris or azide. The AbSelect method involves capture of the antibody on protein A resin and the removal of unwanted substances by a simple wash procedure. The purified product is then eluted and neutralized. [Pg.12]

Screening tests for PBG are based on its reaction with DMAB (modified Ehrlichs reaction ). We recommend the trace PBG test kit available from Thermo Electron (UK), which isolates PBG from urine by ion-exchange resin before the reaction with DMAB. Older screening methods, such as those of Schwartz or Hoesch, give false-positive results due to the reaction of DMAB with urea, which is abundant in urine. [Pg.755]

On occasion, iodinations are not performed by the user. The talc-resin-TCA test is a simple technique for validating the suitability of I-labeled hormones obtained commercially, which often are expensive. As only the equivalent of three assay tubes of iodohormone are required for this simple screening test, it is not unreasonable to check the quality of every batch of commercially labeled material before its use, including io-dohormones supplied with RIA kits. [Pg.333]
