Resin converters

Demineralized water is water from which all the minerals have been removed by ion-eNchange. It is used where pure water is needed for a process and as boiler feed water. Mixed and multiple-bed ion-exehange units are used for this purpose, one resin converting the cations to hydrogen and the other removing the acid radicals. Water can be produced that has less than I ppm of dissolved solids. [Pg.157]

Hydrogen-hydroxide cycle Provides the most favorable operating cycle and results in near neutral water of very high quality. The (hydrogen form) cation resin converts silica to silicic acid (H2Si03), which is then retained by the (hydroxide form) anion resin but breaks through first due to its very weak nature. Poor... [Pg.380]

A thermosetting resin converts to an infusible, cross-linked plastic which is insoluble in any solvent after curing. Because of this irreversible cross-linking reaction, excellent physical properties such as heat resistance, creep resistance, mechanical strength, etc., are obtainable through design of the polymer structure. [Pg.105]

For the mutual separation of plutonium and neptunium, both of those are adsorbed on an anion-exchange resin column and the resin converted to chloride form by washing with concentrated hydrochloric acid. Then the plutonium is reduced to the trivalent state and eluted with 9 H hydrochloric acid solution containing 0.1 M hydro-iodic acid. [Pg.325]

Gunderson, Heiz and Klevstrand75 used Dowex 2 resin, converted to the 0H form, to form meperidine base from meperidine HC1 in tablet preparations. Elution with 70 ethanol was followed by titration of the base with 0.1H HC1 standardized by titration of Borax in 70 ethanol with bromothymol blue. [Pg.201]

Non-tryptamines.—Details have been given of the 2T-ray analysis of dibromo-cannabicyclol which led to the revision of the structures of bicyclomahanimbine and bicyclomahanimbicine. Crombie and Whiting have also reported" that treatment of ( )-mahanimbine (40) with an acidic ion-exchange resin converts it into ( )-cyclomahanimbine (41) (Scheme 1) further spectral data are presented" for this structure. It seems likely" that curryanin" and murray-azolidine,"" both of which had been formulated as (42), actually have the structure (41). Further evidence for this revised structure for murrayazolidine ( =... [Pg.191]

Whereas the projected area determines the clamping force, the weight or volume of a shot determines the capacity of the IM machine required. For the hot runners of TPs, the shot size includes the gate and runners. Capacities of machines are generally rated in ounces of general purpose PS with other resins, convert to the correct capacity by relating the resin densities to that of PE. If the shot size is based on volume, densities are not involved. [Pg.70]

The major benefit of post-chlorination of PVC is the dramatic rise in glass transition temperature as chlorine is added to the molecule. It has been observed that the Tg of chlorinated PVC increases from about 82°C for the starting PVC (chlorine content 57 percent) to about 100°C at 62 to 63 percent chlorine, to above 120°C at about 67 percent chlorine content (146). Fukawa(147)hasdemonstrated thattheTgofa PVC resin, converted to CPVC, follows the relationship ... [Pg.414]

Thermoplastic resins are available to the processing industry as pellets of resin. Converting the raw material into useful products can involve separate segments of the plastics industry. As Figure 2.10 suggests, the resin might be compounded by a custom compounder and formed into the final product by a processor or a fabricator. The compounding can also be carried out by the processor in an in-house facility. [Pg.105]

Supply for PE and polypropylene resins remains tight due to strong demand from resin converters. [Pg.6]

The use of iron carbonyl derivatives in organic synthesis is often limited by the difficulty of separation of the iron complexes from the desired product at the end of the reaction. In the synthesis of aldehydes from alkyl halides using tetra-carbonylhydridoferrate, [HFe(CO)4] , this problem has been overcome by attaching the iron complex to an ion-exchange resin [equation (9)]. The resin converts alkyl halides into the homologous aldehyde in over 90% yield, and at the end of the reaction the iron complex is retained on the polymer. Allyl chlorides fail to react, and secondary alkyl halides undergo elimination. [Pg.190]
