Reproductive and teratogenic effects

Mazze RI, Eujinaga M, Rice SA, et al Reproductive and teratogenic effects of nitrous oxide, halothane, isoflurane, and enflurane in Sprague-Dawley rats. Anesthesiology 64(3) 339-344, 1986... [Pg.293]

Studies of reproductive and teratogenic effects of OPPs on humans are few. Gordon et al. (1981) found stronger correlations of cleft lip and palate malformations for insecticides and/or herbicides than for all other agrichemicals combined. The post mortem examination of women s ovaries following acute intoxication revealed adverse ovarian effects from parathion and both infertility and menstrual disturbances were observed in female applicators of OPPs. Also, women from fruit growing areas exposed to OPPs experienced earlier menopause, infertility and other functional irregularities—e.g., in the liver and nervous system and in bile production. [Pg.409]

SAFETY PROFILE Poison by intravenous and subcutaneous routes. Moderately toxic by ingestion and intraperitoneal routes. An experimental teratogen. Human systemic effects by ingestion and intraperitoneal routes change in vestibular functions, blood pressure decrease, eosinophilia, respiratory depression, and pulmonary changes. Human reproductive and teratogenic effects by unspecified routes developmental abnormalities of the eye and ear and effects on newborn including postnatal measures or effects. Toxic to kidneys and central nervous system. Has been implicated in aplastic anemia. Experimental reproductive effects. Human... [Pg.1277]

CHRONIC HEALTH RISKS based on testing in animals, may cause possible liver and kidney damage reproductive and teratogenic effects have been reported, based on testing in animals. [Pg.416]

The fundamentals of testing for reproductive and teratogenic effects of chemical agents were described by Dr. R. Tyl. She laid emphasis on teratogenic phenomena in man, one-fifth of which were attributable to germinal mutations. Developmental criteria and landmarks in rodents were tabulated to illustrate the important applications of such data in safety testing. [Pg.190]

Reproductive and teratogenic effects of poisonous plants can cause considerable economic loss in grazing animals. Match each dinical reproductive problem with the plant that causes it... [Pg.454]
