Some control over the spHt between methyl radical oxidation (to HCHO) and dimerization in heterogeneous oxidation can be achieved by varying conditions (116). For homogeneous oxidation, an efficiency of 70—80% to methanol has been claimed at 8—10% conversions (110). This is the high end of the reported range and is controversial. Even so, such technology appears unlikely to be competitive for regular commercial use until further advances are made (117). The critical need is to protect the products from further oxidation (118). [Pg.341]

Some of tfie physical piopeities of tungsten ate given in Table 3 fuithei property data ate available (12—14). For thermodynamic values. References 5,15, and 16 should be consulted. Two values are given for the melting point. The value of 3660 K was selected as a secondary reference for the 1968 international practical temperature scale. However, since 1961, the four values that have been reported ranged from 3680 to 3695 and averaged 3688 K. [Pg.279]

Calculating the Maximum Quantity of Lead and Lead Compounds. To calculate the maximum amount of lead and lead compounds present at your facility at any one time, you must consider types of metallic load and M types of lead compounds present at your facility, Including stockpiled raw materials, lead and lead oxide present in process equipment, the metallic lead and lead peroxide contained in finished batteries stored on-site, and stockpiled lead scrap. Since the reporting form is being prepared for lead compounds, the maximum amount reported is the total of the inventories of these materials. The maximum amount of metallic lead (2,305,000 pounds), lead oxide (205,000 pounds), and lead peroxide (625,000 pounds) present at your facility is 3,135,000 pounds, which is between 1,000,000 and 9,999,999 pounds. You would therefore report range 06 on Part III, Section 4, of the reporting form. [Pg.83]

The appearance of any appreciable degree of phase-separation in the copolymer should be reflected in different TgS of the two phases. But Braun and coworkers [159] observed only single TgS in the reported range of 0-57.0 mol% of ethylene in the copolymer. This may constitute a criticism of the ideas put forward here. [Pg.334]

This intermediate would be further oxidized by thionyl chloride and solvolyzed by ethanol to the pyridinium chloride hydrochloride. According to this reaction route, the stoichiometric ratio of pyridine to thionyl chloride for the overall process would be about 1 1. Varying ratios of thionyl chloride have been used6-8 and varying yields of the product have been reported, ranging from 60% of crude product7 to 48% of recrystallized product.8 In one run in which the checkers used one-half the specified amount of thionyl chloride, the yield was unaffected. The submitters report yields in the range 58-62% by the procedure described here. [Pg.99]

There are several pharmacokinetic differences between loop diuretics. Fifty to sixty percent of a dose of furosemide is excreted unchanged by the kidney with the remainder undergoing glucuronide conjugation in the kidney.17 In contrast, liver metabolism accounts for 50% and 80% of the elimination of bumetanide and torsemide, respectively.17 Thus, patients with ARF may have a prolonged half-life of furosemide. The bioavailability of both torsemide and bumetanide is higher than for furosemide. The intravenous (IV) oral ratio for bumetanide and torsemide is 1 1, bioavailability of oral furosemide is approximately 50%, with a reported range of 10% to 100%.18... [Pg.366]

The establishment of performance criteria for a given tumor marker test is not a simple process because accuracy and precision are unique for each type of analyte and its application. Establishing methodological limits for accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and specificity often requires standard reference materials, quality control materials, comparative studies, and actual clinical specimens. Accuracy and precision must be measured over the analyte reportable range for which the device is intended to be used. Sensitivity and specificity must be considered with respect to the intended clinical use of the device. Also, the indications for use should be carefully considered in the design of the study protocol. The indications for class II should be to monitor residual tumor after surgery (or radiation), the recurrence of tumor, or response to therapy. A 510(k) must provide clear evidence that the device is accurate, safe, effective, and substantially equivalent to a device legally marketed in the United States. [Pg.176]

Attainment of a maximum double bond conversion is typical in multifunctional monomer polymerizations and results from the severe restriction on bulk mobility of reacting species in highly crosslinked networks [26]. In particular, radicals become trapped or shielded within densely crosslinked regions known as microgels, and the rate of polymerization becomes diffusion limited. Further double bond conversion is almost impossible at this point, and the polymerization stops prior to 100% functional group conversion. In polymeric dental composites, which use multifunctional methacrylate monomers, final double bond conversions have been reported ranging anywhere from 55-75% [22,27-29]. [Pg.196]

Sewage sludge contains significant concentrations of nutrients, particularly N and phosphorus and is recognised as having considerable potential as a fertiliser material and soil conditioner. Concentrations of nutrients vary considerably between sludges. Sommers [4], reported ranges of <0.1-17-6% for total N, <0.1-14.3% for total P, and 0.02-2.64% for total potassium. [Pg.466]
