Repeat-use articles

For repeat-use articles, FDA takes into account information on the uses of articles that may contain the FCS such as the weight of food contacting a known area of a representative repeat-use article, contact time of food with the repeat-use article, and the average lifetime of the article. This allows the calculation of a representative food mass-to-surface area ratio for the use and extrapolation of the representative migrant levels in food over the entire service lifetime of the article. In general, exposure estimates for repeat-use applications are lower than those for single-use, primarily because of the large food mass-to-surface area ratio used in the calculations. [Pg.29]

In handling EP(D)M, normal industrial hygienic procedures should be followed. It is advisable to minimi2e skin contact. The use of EP(D)M is permitted for food contact under the conditions given in the respective EDA-paragraphs 177.1520 for Olefin polymers, and 177.2600 for mbber articles intended for repeated use. [Pg.506]

Evaluation of Results. At least two independent assays are carried out for each test article. The criterion for positive response is a reproducible and statistically significant result at any concentration for any strain. When positive results are obtained, the test is repeated, using the strain(s) and concentration range with which the initial positive results were observed. This range may be quite narrow for toxic agents. [Pg.201]

Coumarone-indene resin as a plasticizer in rubber articles intended for repeated use in contact vith food Yes CFR 1989d (21 CFR 177.2600)... [Pg.68]

Table I is a list of all the enzymes that will be mentioned in this article. Neither the E.C. number nor the nomenclature name is convenient for repeated use in a discussion. Therefore, for the running text, we shall use mostly the time-established trivial names. We shall use 1 to 3-letter symbols in the Tables. For these, we have followed common practice as much as possible, but we had to innovate in some cases in order to avoid confusion.
