Sihcone contamination has been impHcated as a cause of failure in telephone switching systems and other devices that contain relay switch contacts (507). Analysis of airborne particulates near telephone switching stations showed the presence of siUcones at these locations. Where the indoor use of sihcones is intentionally minimised, outdoor levels were found to be higher than inside concentrations (508). Samples of particulates taken at two New Jersey office buildings revealed sihcone levels that were considerably higher indoors than outdoors. In these cases, indoor sihcone aerosols are beheved to be generated primarily by photocopiers, which use sihcone fuser oils. [Pg.61]

The purpose of the deceleration mode is to decelerate the unloaded system inertia to near zero rpm in a specified time period. Now the coils inside the relay, what do they do The positive DC to the top of the first coil activates the coil around the core to create an electromagnet that opens the relay switch at the top (to allow the HV DC in) and then the current flows to the next coil which opens the switch at the bottom of the second coil. Vapour Deposition Polymerisation. This is a little studied approach but one that offers significant potential for the fabrication of very thin films and for elaborate multilayer structures. A commercial process has been developed by the Ulvac Corporation in Japan to coat magnetic relay switches with an insulating polyimide layer. A polyamic acid is sythesised by co-deposition of two reactive monomers and is then thermally imidised. The same approach can be used for the condensation polymerisation of poly(azomethine)s, ° poly(ox-adiazoles) and poly(quinoxalines) all of which have been used in LED structures.
