Reinforcement guidance

For pultrusion of hollow cross-sections, cantilever mandrels that are mounted in front of the die (i.e., upstream ) are used. In the transverse direction, the mandrel (which may be heated) is oriented solely by the amount of reinforcement around it. The fact that it is difficult to produce perfectly concentric pipes and hollow sections with well-defined wall thicknesses underscores the significance of predie reinforcement guidance and positioning. 

The AWWA C-203 Standard remains a widely used specification suitable not only for the materials, but also for their associated reinforcing wraps and application procedures. The standard has been regularly updated. Hot-applied asphaltic and coal-tar coatings with their priming systems are now well classified, described and specified in BS 4164 1967 (coal tar) and BS 4147 1967 (asphalt), but no guidance is given in these specifications to application procedures. 

In simulating transient flows in pipeline networks, the importance of accuracy cannot be over-emphasized. Because the transient behaviors are less well-understood, they are often rich in surprises. Physical intuition affords less guidance in these situations than in steady-state phenomena. Rachford and Dupont (R2) provided two instructive and deceptively simple examples to illustrate the interaction between regulators and compressors and the oscillatory response which can produce pressures higher than the supply pressure through reinforcement. 

In pultrusion of composites with all the reinforcement axially aligned, the pre- and postimpregnation guidance is quite straightforward. In contrast, to place mats, fabrics, and veils corrrectly to form an intricate, thin-walled, and hollow cross-section, such as a window profile, considerable ingenuity, skill, and experience are required. Chlorides, generally in the form of the sodium salt are found in sedimentary deposits, particularly in marine and coastal areas. In reinforced concrete, they can increase the corrosion rate of the steel. Chlorides can also adversely affect the performance of sulfate-resisting Portland cements. BS 5328 [8.9] specifies chloride contents in concrete for various types and uses. BS 882 (Appendix C) [8.2] provides guidance on limits for chloride in aggregates when it is required to limit the chloride ion content , ranging from 0.01 to 0.05 %. 

These appear to be the only reports of this apparent interaction, but the pharmacokinetic basis of the interaction seems to be established. The US manufacturers of lovastatin suggest that the dose should not exceed 20 mg daily in the presence of danazol. Similarly the manufacturers of simvastatin suggest that the dose should not exceed 10 mg daily in the presence of danazol. It would seem prudent to reinforce the symptoms of myopathy and tell patients to report any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness. The authors of the lovastatin report point out that, as in this case, severe lovastatin muscle toxicity may be very slow to develop.
