Reinforced Isotactic Polypropylene Titanium Dioxide and Other Composites

8 Reinforced Isotactic Polypropylene Titanium Dioxide AND Other Composites [Pg.212]

Mina et al. [19] demonstrated improvements in performance in isotactic polypropylene containing titanium dioxide filler. These include an increase in microhardness and impact properties with an increase in titanium dioxide content in the composite. Also, thermal stability is enhanced and electrical resistivity decreases with an inaease in titanium dioxide content. [Pg.212]

In recent years, polymer-layered silicate nanocomposites have attracted considerable attention in both fundamental research and industry and have been considered a new generation of composite materials. They often exhibit excellent mechanical, thermal, and gas barrier properties, and it is predicted that these materials will play an important part in industries as diverse as automotive, packaging, foodstuffs, and aerospace. [Pg.212]

Tonato et al. [20] studied the effect of up to 100 kGy gamma radiation on the properties of organically modified montmorillonite clay-propylene nanocomposites. These workers reported that oxidative degradation under gamma irradiation of poly-propylene-clay nanocomposites causes drastic modification in the structure, morphology, and tensile and thermal properties of the nanocomposites, especially at doses above 20 kGy. [Pg.212]

A large increase in carbonyl index was noted, accompanied by a significant decrease in melting temperature (r ) index and ultimate tensile properties. [Pg.212]
