Recruiting references

Having decided on the vacancies that need filling, determine the number of people needed for each role. This should be done in accordance with the number of mentees and mentors you are planning to recruit. Then you can draw up job descriptions and selection criteria for each of the vacancies. With regard to the selection criteria for trainers, relationship supervisors and (if still necessary) the program co-ordinator, please refer back to Founding the implementation team and Table 8.1.

Multiple motor unit summation involves recruitment of motor units. As the number of motor units stimulated at any given moment increases, the strength of contraction increases. Asynchronous motor unit summation refers to the condition in which motor unit activation within a muscle is alternated. In other words, at one moment, some of the motor units within the muscle are activated, while other motor units are relaxed. This is followed by the relaxation of previously activated motor units and activation of previously relaxed motor units. Consequently, only a fraction of the motor units within the muscle generate tension at any given moment. Therefore, this type of summation may generate submaximal contractions only. 

The approach recruited to chemical proteomics in Reference [17] is called SILAC (stable isotope labeling with amino acids in cell culture) and is important in comparative proteomics (Figure 1). SILAC works well with cultured mammalian cells, but prokaryotes defeat it by metabolizing the label (usually supplied in lysine and arginine) into other amino acids. A major decision is how many study subjects to recruit because this affects planning throughout the study The sample size refers to the number of subjects who finish a trial, not to the number who enter it. There are at least three major effector pathways that are activated by neurotrophic factor-Trk receptors. The best-characterized pathway is the extracellular-regulated kinase (ERK) cascade, which is regifiated by activation of Ras, a small membrane-bound G protein. Activation of Ras occurs when activated Trk receptor associates with adaptor proteins and a GTP exchange factor (see Russell and Duman 2002 for details). Ras in turn recruits and activates a serine threonine kinase, Raf, to the membrane resulting in the activation of ERK kinase (also referred to as MEK) and ERK (also known as mitogen activated protein kinase or MAPK). Activation of the Ras-Raf-MEK-ERK cascade can lead to regifiation of many celMar proteins, including ribosomal S6-kinase (RSK). 

There are however some older Asian examples of identification with king, dynasty or territory which have features of state nationalism. Pre-modern Chinese described their collective identity by reference to a dynasty— People of Han, or Tang, or Qing . Nevertheless, the state s requirement that officials be recruited through examinations of certain classical texts created an unusual uniformity of high culture (see below). 

The term place refers to where the business will be located, or more generally, what channels will be employed to get the product or service to customers. Companies selling software to the financial sector will do well to locate in New York, London, and other major financial capitals to be close to companies in then-market. Companies that depend on recruiting specialized scientific and engineering talent will do well to locate near universities with excellent reputations in the needed talents. Of course, the virtual world of the Web has reduced somewhat the competitive advantage of physical presence or place. The Web permits customers almost anywhere to communicate, buy, and be serviced after the sale by companies that use e-mail, Web browsers, and other tools of online communication.
