Recovery plans

As part of the verification plan, you should include an activity plan that lists all the planned activities in the sequence they are to be conducted and use this plan to record completion and conformance progressively. The activity plan should make provision for planned and actual dates for each activity and for recording comments such as recovery plans when the program does not proceed exactly as planned. It is also good practice to conduct test reviews before and after each series of tests so that corrective measures can be taken before continuing with abortive tests (see also under Design validation). ...

Relapse does not just suddenly happen without warning or without reason. Research into the processes of relapse has identified a rather predictable chain of events that lead up to it (see Figure 7.1). Moreover, the fact that a client slips into old behavior once does not mean all is lost. On the contrary, a slip offers a tremendous opportunity for both client and therapist or counselor to improve upon the recovery plan. A slip identifies a weakness in the recovery plan and offers an indication of how to improve it. Remembering the transtheoretical stages of change model (see Chapter 3), a relapse is viewed as part of the change cycle and as a fairly common occurrence when a person learns how to overcome a drug problem. So there is no need to panic if a relapse occurs. 

A strategy that can be used to renew commitment to the posttreatment recovery plan is called the decision matrix. The decision matrix is quite similar to a prosand-cons list used when a client or potential client is in the contemplation stage of change to enhance motivation. This strategy is particularly useful to challenge the rise of positive expectancies during a chain of events that place the client at risk for a lapse. 

If a client does slip or relapse, it does not mean that progress is arrested or that treatment has not succeeded. Remember, lapses and relapses provide opportunities for clients to grow and for recovery plans to be improved. In addition, there are strategies that can be used to reduce the duration and severity of a lapse or relapse. The first intervention upon a lapse or relapse occurs well before it happens, when you and your client develop a relapse plan and use relapse rehearsal in session. In this way, you teach the client to respond to a lapse or relapse by actively seeking help and by doing something differently. 

Aftercare counselors will want to develop posttreatment recovery plans for clients as they near the end of aftercare. A posttreatment plan can be developed by using the continuing care plan, and any unfinished items may become part of a long-term... 

Your relapse prevention plan will help remind you of what to do to successfully cope with high-risk situations when you are confronted with them. If you are facing a tough situation in which you are tempted to use drugs, your plan will remind you to seek help. Contact your counselor or therapist before you use drugs, if possible. Even if you do have a lapse, remember that it is not the end of the world, but rather a chance to improve your recovery plan. Remember to call your counselor or therapist as soon as you can after a lapse. Lapses are not unusual and your counselor or therapist can help you return to recovery.

Establish system backups and disaster recovery plans. 

Establish a disaster recovery plan that allows for rapid recovery from any emergency (including a cyber attack). System backups are an essential part of any plan and allow rapid reconstruction of the network. Routinely exercise disaster recovery plans to ensure that they work and that personnel are familiar with them. Make appropriate changes to disaster recovery plans based on lessons learned from exercises.

The emergency response and recovery plans should be reviewed and updated as needed annually. This feature also establishes the expectation that chemical facilities should test or exercise their emergency response and recovery plans regularly.

Second, disaster situations represent real and potential threats to data integrity. Evidence of appropriate preventive action and recovery strategies must be presented, generally in the form of a disaster recovery plan with an annual practice drill. The disaster recovery plan is usually organized aroimd likely problems (flood from broken pipes, fire, electrical failure, etc.) and includes appropriate notifications, substitute activities, and recovery actions. The disaster recovery plan generally interacts with system backup, recovery, and archive SOPs. 

Business Continuity Planning (Disaster Recovery) A disaster recovery plan should be in place to ensure the continued operation of the laboratory in case of an adverse event that renders the instrument out of commission and hence causes interruption to the business processes which the system supports. Adverse events like the failure of the critical hardware components of the instrument and the failure of the application software do happen in the day-to-day operation of a laboratory. The disaster recovery plan should provide the necessary steps to restore the systems back to a functional state. The steps typically include instructions to reinstall the application software to the personal computer controlling the instrument, to reconfigure the instrument, and to restore the backup data to the instrument. 

The outlook for sulfur production from petroleum, and especially from sour gas, is also promising, largely because of the aggressive development plans which the Mexican government now has to expand the petroleum and petrochemical sectors. The projected very large increases in gas processing will be accompanied by a sizeable expansion in sulfur recovery. Plans are now well advanced to expand gas treatment capability from the current level of about 100, 000 tons per year of sulfur to about 500,000 tons per year by 1985. 

Later, the USFWS upped the ante. Breeding packs are assumed to average ten wolves each, but each pack is assumed to have only one breeding pair. The recovery plan calls for ten packs of ten wolves in each of three recovery areas, for a total of 300 wolves.
