Using of a source Cs nozzles with the contents of tungsten up to 75 % were investigated. The distributions received for a product without impregnation and after impregnation by tungsten are shown on fig. 1. [Pg.600]

Waveguides are coimnonly used to transmit microwaves from the source to the resonator and subsequently to the receiver. For not-too-high-frequency radiation (<10 GHz) low-loss MW transmission can also be achieved usmg strip-lines and coaxial cables. At the output of a klystron an isolator is often used to prevent back-reflected microwaves to perturb the on-resonant klystron mode. An isolator is a microwave-ferrite device that pemiits the transmission of microwaves in one direction and strongly attenuates their propagation in the other direction. The prmciple of this device involves the Faraday effect, that is, the rotation of the polarization... [Pg.1559]

The theory of the process is discussed in Sections 1,1-1,3. The apparatus of Fig. 11,12,1 may be used when moderate quantities of the substance are available. A is a 50 ml. distilling flask attached by a cork to a Liebig condenser B, upon the end of which an adapter C is fitted D is a receiver for collecting the distillate. The thermometer E is fitted into the neck of the distilling flask by means of a well-bored cork the bulb of the thermometer should be in the centre of the neck of the flask and slightly below (ca. 5 mm.) the level of the side tube. The flask may be heated on a wire gauze with asbestos centre or preferably in an air bath (Fig. 77, 5, 3). [Pg.83]

No internal piping and no conventional filter valve are needed with single-cell dmm filters where the entire dmm also operates under vacuum. The cake discharge is effected by air blowback from an internal stationary shoe mounted inside the dmm at the point of discharge. There are very close tolerances between the inside surface of the dmm and the shoe in order to minimize the leakage. The inside of the dmm acts as a receiver for the separation of air and filtrate conventional multicompartment dmm filters require a separate external receiver. This type of filter permits operation of the filter with thin cakes so that high dmm speeds, up to 26 rpm, can be used and high capacities can be achieved. Sizes up to 14 m are available. [Pg.397]

Erequendy, a single ultrasonic transducer serves both as the sender of the ultrasonic pulse and as a receiver for the sound waves reflected from surfaces and interior discontinuities. The receiver transforms the stress pulse back into electrical oscillations. AH of the signals are displayed on an oscilloscope screen for interpretation. Eor a material of length E having a wave speed C, the anomaly shown in Eigure 4 would reflect a signal back to the... [Pg.127]

Atmospheric attenuation is the consequence of absorption of radiation by the medium present between emitter and receiver. For thermal radiation, atmospheric absorption is primarily due to water vapor and, to a lesser extent, to carbon dioxide. Absorption also depends on radiation wavelength, and consequently, on hie temperature. Duiser approximates transmissivity as... [Pg.63]

Hazard distances from a fireball or a BLEVE-fireball depend on the damage level of radiation that the receptor(s) can be permitted to receive. For structures, this... [Pg.179]

The most valuable attribute of the laboratories is the vast human and physical resources that can be called upon to solve national problems of great complexity and scope. However, without a national problem or crisis on the horizon, as was the case in the 1990s, the vast funding needed to tnaintain this national resource comes into question. And since the laboratories are all funded almost exclusively by federal dollars, the ultimate customer is the U.S. taxpayer, a taxpayer who asks What have I received for my investment Wliat can I hope for in the future ... [Pg.819]

The pressurized air goes to an air receiver for storage and then is processed for use by passing through filters, dryers and, in some cases, lubricators. This pressurized air is normally classified as instrument air when it is used in control systems. This air must be moisture and oil free to prevent the control devices from clogging up. [Pg.631]

A receiver for low pressure distillations designed by G. A. R. Kon (1930) is quite easy to make the joints D and C (Figure 61) are both standard B.19 joints the two taps at A andRare standard designs of three-way taps. For the part G a tube of about 3 cm diameter... [Pg.71]

Probenecid is a uricosuric agent that blocks the tubular reabsorption of uric acid, increasing its excretion. Because of its mechanism of action, probenecid is contraindicated in patients with a history of uric acid stones or nephropathy. Probenecid loses its effectiveness as renal function declines and should be avoided when the creatinine clearance is 50 mL/minute or less. Its uricosuric effect is counteracted by low aspirin doses, which many patients receive for prophylaxis of coronary heart disease. [Pg.896]

The present value of an income is the money that must be invested at the stated interest rate at time zero to yield the same amount of income at the same time. It is also the money that must be invested at time zero to yield the same total obtained if all the income is invested at the stated interest rate when it is received. For a practical situation, this latter interpretation implies that alternate investments are available that can earn income at this interest rate. [Pg.304]
