Radio fire alarm systems

A number of relatively small power-accumulator systems are included as parts of the equipment to which they provide power. Equipment having these systems includes the automatic dial and conference telephone system, the security and fire-alarm system, radio installations, and engine-starting systems.

If the occupants of a building have impaired hearing it may be appropriate to provide visual alarm systems in the areas occupied by those people. This should include any toilets and welfare facilities. If people with impaired hearing sleep in the building it may be appropriate to provide tactile devices linked to visual alarm devices. These devices may, for example, be placed under pillows and wired into the fire alarm circuits or be triggered by radio signals. 

Fire alarm warning signals for people with impaired hearing may also be provided as portable equipment, for example a radio pager or other system using radio communication. 

Other types of fire protection equipment or systems can be broken into four categories (1) portable fire suppression equipment including standpipe and hose systems (2) fixed fire suppression equipment including automatic sprinkler systems and fixed extinguishing systems (3) fire detection systems and (4) employee alarm systems. In addition, certain equipment is often installed in workplaces to control heat sources or to detect fuel leaks. An example is a temperature limit switch. Alarm systems may include, but are not limited to, manual pull box alarms, public address systems, radio, or telephone.)... 

An intercom system and telephones in Rooms 104, 106, 107, 111, and 112 accommodate communications within the Hot Cell Facility. The TA-V emergency evacuation system provides immediate notification to all personnel in TA-V to evacuate in the event of a fire, radiological emergency, security problem, or other site-wide problem. The TA-V alarm may be initiated from building exits throughout TA-V. An area-wide public-address system, portable radios, and pagers supplement telephone communication and FAX capabilities to line management, SNL Incident Commander, DOE, and key ES H staff. 

Portable alarm devices - it is possible to provide portable alarm devices to supplement the primary means of giving warning in case of a fire. It is common for these systems to be operated by local radio signals. If this is the case the portable devices should meet the following criteria ...
