Uj) Telemetry Tests (Low Spin and Low Acceleration). The purpose of these tests is to investigate the performance of fuzes used with ammunition of low acceleration and spin parameters, such as the recoilless rifle and mortar projectiles. The techniques require the use of FM transmitters potted into the projectiles for transmitting such information as switch closure and electrical charge generation in flight. The telemetry transmitting station, like the transmitter in the round, are both assembled from std radio components modified for these particular tests (p IIIB-22 of Ref 39)... [Pg.1101]

D. Cut three or four V x V x 3" balsa strips to Ee used to join the front bulkhead of the wing section and the disc from Step C. The strips should be glued into notches cut in the two discs. Placement will again depend upon the arangement of the radio components. Cut the four feet of bell wire in half and attach to battery and blasting cap as shown. [Pg.51]

A confirmation of this possibility comes from the fact that the biggest radio components found in well resolved HII regions have an excitation parameter of only U 85 pc cm " (Felli and Panagia, 1974 Wink et al. 1975). As a cross-check on the absorption of Ly-c radiation by dust, we can examine Fig. 2, in which the MIR luminosity is plotted against the expected Ly-a luminosity (Felli and Panagia, 1976). Since it is established that MIR radiation comes from within an HII region, we are certain to deal with emission by dust mixed with the ionized gas. Also, it must... [Pg.45]

Comparison of the infrared image with an optical r band image (Dickenson and Spinrad, private communication) shows a range of colors of the various sources. The body of the galaxy associated with the main radio source is quite blue, and if comprised of starli t could be quite young. More interesting is the infrared source associated with radio component A. This source has an t-Kg color of 2 mag. If this source is due to starlight it must have been formed 5 X 10 years earlier, or at z 8. [Pg.244]

Quadrupole analyzer. A mass filter that, creates a quadrupole field with a DC component and an RF (radio frequency) component in such a manner as to allow transmission only of ions having a selected mass-to-charge (m/z) ratio. [Pg.430]

Precisely controllable rf pulse generation is another essential component of the spectrometer. A short, high power radio frequency pulse, referred to as the B field, is used to simultaneously excite all nuclei at the T,arm or frequencies. The B field should ideally be uniform throughout the sample region and be on the order of 10 ]ls or less for the 90° pulse. The width, in Hertz, of the irradiated spectral window is equal to the reciprocal of the 360° pulse duration. This can be used to determine the limitations of the sweep width (SW) irradiated. For example, with a 90° hard pulse of 5 ]ls, one can observe a 50-kHz window a soft pulse of 50 ms irradiates a 5-Hz window. The primary requirements for rf transmitters are high power, fast switching, sharp pulses, variable power output, and accurate control of the phase. [Pg.401]

Tin—2inc coatings (75 wt % tin) have appHcation as a solderable coating for radio, television, and electronic components. They also provide galvanic protection for steel in contact with aluminum. [Pg.61]

Remote control units. These units are used to control unit processes. Basic control functions such as the PID algorithm are implemented here. Depending on other hardware components used, data acquisition capability may be required to perform digital control. They may be configured to supply process set points to single-loop controllers. Radio telemetiy may be installed to communicate with MUX units located at great distances. [Pg.772]

Radio and television uses largely arise from the ability to produce components with a high level of dimensional accuracy coupled with good dielectric properties, high heat distortion temperatures and the availability of selfextinguishing grades. Specific uses include coil formers, picture tube deflection yokes and insert card mountings. [Pg.591]

Given their radio-frequency electrical properties and nuclear magnetic resonance chemical shift components, solutions of reversed micelles constituted of water, AOT, and decane have been proposed as suitable systems to test and calibrate the performance of magnetic resonance imagers [68]. [Pg.479]

Metabolic control analysis (MCA) assigns a flux control coefficient (FCC) to each step in the pathway and considers the sum of the coefficients. Competing pathway components may have negative FCCs. To measure FCCs, a variety of experimental techniques including radio isotopomers and pulse chase experiments are necessary in a tissue culture system. Perturbation of the system, for example, with over-expression of various genes can be applied iteratively to understand and optimize product accumulation. [Pg.356]

To study NMR spectra of compounds, apparatus is required that consists of three sets of components. These are a radio-frequency transmitter, a homogeneous magnetic field and a radio-frequency receiver. In addition to these, the apparatus includes a unit to sweep the magnetic field over a small range, a mere few parts per million. [Pg.364]

Shredded circuit boards. Circuit boards are metal boards that hold computer chips, thermostats, batteries, and other electronic components. Circuit boards can be found in computers, televisions, radios, and other electronic equipment. When this equipment is thrown away, these boards can be removed and recycled. Whole circuit boards meet the definition of scrap metal, and are therefore exempt from hazardous waste regulation when recycled. On the other hand, some recycling processes involve shredding the board. Such shredded boards do not meet the exclusion for recycled scrap metal. In order to facilitate the recycling of such materials, U.S. EPA excluded recycled shredded circuit boards from the definition of solid waste, provided that they are stored in containers sufficient to prevent release to the environment, and are free of potentially dangerous components, such as mercury switches, mercury relays, nickel-cadmium batteries, and lithium batteries. [Pg.494]

The obtained Te for W51 and Rosette Nebulae are similar to the Te obtained at higher frequencies, probably evidencing the absence of strong Te gradient inside the sources. The Hydrogen line width for W3A is narrower than usual, likely it s from partly ionized component, from which the narrow lines were observed at higher radio frequencies for this source. [Pg.376]
