Racial groups definitions

Race definitely comes into play. High blood pressure is far more common in blacks than in any other racial group, and it hits at an earlier age. But we know that African Americans are far more sodium sensitive than whites are and at the same time they have diets that are high in sodium, doubling the problem. The solution seems pretty obvious. Similarly, obesity and diabetes are more prevalent among blacks. Rather than wringing his or her hands in despair, the wise black individual will take appropriate action. 

The definitions of racial groups are not totally satisfactory (e.g. what is Black ), and ethnicity and geography can wreak havoc on the meaning of representative for example Pacific Islanders and Asians make up 9.8% of the Pacific states population and 61.8% of the US state of Hawaii (US Bureau of the Census, 1991). What is Hispanic, other than a language group that contains a combination of genetic groups from Europe, Africa and Native America Diseases such as stroke are... 

With regard to racial variation, nothing has been definitely established. Hawk s data [22] appears to show subtle differences in the relative percentages of various amino acids found in the hydrolysates of Ethiopian hair as compared to Caucasian hair. Wolfram has compiled a more complete set of data from the literature of whole-fiber amino acid analysis of the three races, showing overlap in the amounts of all the amino acids from scalp hair for the three major racial groups [31]. Polypeptide isolation and amino acid sequencing rather than whole-fiber amino acid analysis will provide the best means for determining with certainty if any differences exist in the proteins of hair of different races.
