Quai

Dong quai has been used in the treatment of dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, metorrhagia, menopausal syndromes, anemia, abdominal pain, injuries, migraine headaches, and arthritis. It is believed to ensure healthy pregnancies and easy deliveries. In the U.S., dong quai is recommended primarily to alleviate problems associated with menstruation and menopause. 

Drosera is stated to possess antispasmodic, demulcent, and expectorant characteristics. It is used for treating bronchitis, asthma, pertussis, tracheitis, gastric ulceration, and specifically for asthma and chronic bronchitis with peptic ulceration or gastritis.

The results of simulation have been confirmed by determination of Fe traces in quai tz sand, Cu and Mo in flotation tails and Ag in waste fixing waters on BRA-17-02 analyzer based on X-ray gas-filled electroluminescent detector and on BRA-18 analyzer based on Si-drift detector. The results of the simulation conform satisfactory with the experimental data in the mentioned cases the optimum filtration results in 2 to 5 times lowering of the detection limit.

A number of non-hormonal therapies have been studied for symptomatic management of vasomotor symptoms, including antidepressants [e.g., selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and venlafaxine], herbal products (e.g., soy, black cohosh, and dong quai), and a group of miscellaneous agents (e.g., gabapentin, clonidine, and megestrol). The choice of therapy depends on the patient s concomitant disease states, such as depression and hypertension, and the risk for potential adverse effects. 

Dong quai and several other herbal products, including evening primrose oil, passion flowers, sage, valerian root, flaxseed, and wild yam, have not demonstrated efficacy with regard to the relief of vasomotor symptoms, and the safety of these products is also questionable.4,33,35 Therefore, these products should not be recommended for the relief of vasomotor symptoms in postmenopausal women.

This is well illustrated by the study of a sample from the Dogon statuette 73.1964.3.39 from the Musee du Quai Branly (Paris) [Mazel et al. 2006].
