Q* peak

The formation of a simple El mass spectrum from a number (p) of molecules (M) interacting with electrons (ep. Peak 1 represents M , the molecular ion, the ion of greatest mass (abundance q). Peaks 2, 3 represent A+, B. two fragment ions (abundances r, s). Peak 2 is also the largest and, therefore, the base peak. [Pg.14]

Of greater interest from a structural point of view are examples where CP and non-CP spectra differ. In the case of the hydrated phases of pure silica (silica gel and fumed silica), the intensities of the and peaks which are bonded to hydroxyl groups should be significantly increased by comparison with the Q" peak (unbonded silica). This was shown to be the case by Chuang and Maciel (1997) who used their Si results to refine a model of the silanol bonding at the surface of silica gel (Figure 4.17). Note that integration of the spectrum shown (Figure 7) reveals that the surface coverage is very similar to that obtained for MCM-41 (6.2 silanes/nm ). Note also the relative intensities of the silanes peaks and the Q peaks of the support give an approximate estimate of the relative populations of these components (not strictly true since they have different relaxation rates). Since the support represents a diluent as far as sorbent activity is concerned, this provides some degree of insight into the atomistic efficiency of these sorbent materials. [Pg.379]

The list of residual electron density maxima at the end of the hie zrh-Ol.res contains several peaks, located close to one of the two Zr atoms. It is interesting to note that the two Zr atoms lie on the crystallographic mirror. That means bridging hydrogen atoms could also lie on this mirror, which would make it even more difficult to locate them, as the asymmetric unit would contain only half of each hydrogen atom. When you look at the structure with the Q-peaks using a program like XP or Ortep, you can see that of the 16 residual electron density maxima near the Zr atoms... [Pg.35]

The atomic covalence radius of Zr is ca. 1.45 A, that of hydrogen ca. 0.40 A. This makes Q peaks 1.6 A or less away from a Zr atom unlikely candidates for hydrogen atoms bound to Zr. [Pg.36]

Recent work [36] shows the importance of this control. Methyltriethoxysilane (MeTEOS) and TEOS were mixed in equimolar amounts in ethanol followed by addition of 0.5 equiv of 0.15 M DCl. Such conditions limit hydrolysis and condensation. Eigure 48.6 shows the Si NMR spectrum of this mixture 275 h after water addition.
