Powder coatings as a class are superior to Hquid coatings in abiHty to coat sharp edges and isolate the substrate from contact with corrosive environments. PVC coatings are softer and more flexible than any of the other powder coating materials. Primers used for PVC plastisols have been found generally suitable for powder coatings as weH (5). [Pg.318]

The use of SPME for CE has not (yet) been studied widely. Li and Weber (170) reported an off-line SPME-CE approach for the determination of barbiturates in urine and serum, utilizing a sorbent of plasticized PVC coated around a stainless steel rod. Eor extraction, the coated rod was inserted for 4 min in a Teflon tube containing 50 p.1 of sample, and next the rod was repeatedly desorbed in another Teflon tube which each time contained 5 p.1 of desorption solution. This solution was transferred to an injection vial and an aliquot was injected into the CE system (Eigure 11.19). The extraction procedure appeared to be selective and effectively allowed the handling of very small samples. [Pg.288]

Before use, condition the new electrode by employing it in the titration of a sodium lauryl sulfate solution with a solution of Hyamine 1622 or benzetho-nium chloride solution, 0.04 M using a silver-silver chloride reference electrode. During this conditioning, a layer of an insoluble cation-anion complex becomes firmly attached to the plasticized PVC coating rendering it sensitive to both anionic and cationic surfactants. [Pg.433]

In November 1997, Ferrari (France) invited Solvay to help them to solve a problem of recycling PVC coated textile for light mobile structures, especially ones used for shortterm applications (advertising). The Vinyloop is aphysical recycling process making use of an organic solvent to separate the PVC compound from the other materials in a PVC composite. It is a closed loop process the solvent is completely recycled. Aspects outlined include history and a description of the process, precipitated PVC compound evaluation and financial data... [Pg.32]

The application fastness of the pigment, however, is more satisfactory. P.O.44 may be dry cleaned and resists dry heat up to 210°C for 30 seconds while P.O.5 and also the somewhat redder Naphthol AS pigment P.R.10 is less fast. P.O.44 is also used in PVC coatings. [Pg.259]

Textile prints score poorly in dry cleaning tests involving agents such as per-chloroethylene, a feature which is typical of Naphthol AS pigments. P.R.10 is affected by dry heat and is equally unsuitable for PVC coatings. The prints equal step 6-7 on the Blue Scale for lightfastness, depending on the depth of shade. [Pg.291]

P.R.12 textile prints are excellently lightfast 1/1 to 1/6 SD prints equal step 7 and 6-7, respectively, on the Blue Scale. However, the pigment fails dry cleaning tests and migrates considerably in PVC coatings. P.R.12 tolerates dry heat up to 150°C at 180°C, the pigment still largely retains its initial color value. [Pg.291]

P.R.112 is very lightfast on textiles 1/1 to 1/3 SD (deep shade) prints equal step 7 on the Blue Scale. Exposure to dry heat at 150 and 180°C has no effect. However, like other members of its class, P.R.112 fails the dry cleaning test with per-chloroethylene. The pigment may not be brought into contact with PVC coatings, into which it bleeds. [Pg.295]

But even those who can t afford a trip on the new Zeppelin may benefit from airship technology. The Japanese are designing blimps, which will float at an altitude of 65,000 feet and will be used to reflect waves used in cellular phone communication. The blimp s skin will be made of pvc coated with polyethylene, and the ship will be kept aloft for years. So we may yet see a revival of the great airships — with various new safety features. But, contrary to popular opinion, these great ships... [Pg.210]
