Protection harmonic effects

Referring to the data available from experiments, as shi)wn in Table 23.1, it hits been estimated that a Vp, of I. Hj should be sufficient to account for the harmonic effects. For this dielectric strength is designed a capacitor unit and selected a switching or protective device. 

Based on the system studies carried out and Table 23.1, it has been assessed that in actual operation, effective current through a capacitor circuit may increase up to 1.3 limes its rated cunent, /,., i.e. = 1.3 /, to account for all the harmonic effects (V, - Jf. equation (23.4)). A capacitor unit is thus designed for at least M)9r continuous overload capacity (Section 25.6). Its switching and protective devices are selected along similar lines. 

It is desirable to contain the harmonic effects as far as practicable to protect the capacitors as well as inductive loads connected on the system and the communication network, if running in the vicinity. 

Excessive harmonics may also make the protective devices behave erratically or render them inoperative. Filter circuits would suppress the harmonics and eliminate these effects.

Developments to Date. It often has been stated that the basic policy objective of efforts to harmonize the U.S. and European laws is the achievement of consistent and effective protection of health and the environment. However, economic considerations — in particular, the avoidance (or minimization) of non-tariff trade barriers — constitute the principal force behind virtually all of these multilateral efforts. The trade in chemicals and chemical products constitutes a significant part of the overall trade between Western industrialized nations. Specifically, the U.S. enjoys a favorable balance in its chemicals trade, and this is particularly significant given the current recession. Thus, any unnecessary barriers to this trade may impose substantial burdens upon certain segments of the American chemical industry, and may constitute violations of the international General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). 

In addition, the requirements and policies concerning the handling and treatment of confidential business information (CBI) are and will continue to be an important topic of "harmonization" discussions. In a number of ways, different approaches to CBI (between the EEC and the U.S.) will directly affect the CBI protections available within each country(ies). This is particularly true concerning the effects that the disclosure of proprietary information in one country will have upon industry s ability to protect CBI from disclosure in other nations. 

Zhi Gan Cao is sweet in nature and enters the Spleen meridian. It can harmonize the herbs that warm the interior in a formula. It can also reduce the side effect of harsh herbs and protect the Stomach. Sheng Jiang and Da Zao are used together to tonify the Middle-Jiao and promote digestion, as well as protect the Stomach from the pungent and hot herbs. 

The harmonization activity should further the FDA s mission to protect the public health by, among other things, ensuring that food is safe and otherwise not adulterated or misbranded that human and veterinary drugs, human biological products, and medical devices are safe and effective as required by law and are not adulterated or misbranded that cosmetics are not adulterated or misbranded that electronic product radiation is properly controlled and that all of these products are labeled truthfully and informatively. 

Many of the principles used in pesticide exposure assessment are applicable to other classes of chemicals, and it is hoped that this book will encourage crossfertilization among disciplines. In particular, continued international co-operation and harmonization will be essential to ensure the protection of workers and the general public from the adverse effects of pesticides.
