Proprietary Information Agreements

For a molder to control secrecy concerning proprietary information, the first approach is to keep it as a personal secret. If people have to be exposed to it, such as present or new employees, visitors, and customers since there exists a need to know, those people should sign a nondisclosure agreement. This agreement could set up problems since a person could already be familiar with the so-called secret. [Pg.290]

Proprietary information is often transferred between companies after both sign a secrecy or confidentiality agreement. Generally, the agreement defines what information is to be exchanged, limits how long it is to be held confidential (2-10 years is common), prohibits third-party disclosures, and provides exceptions. Common exceptions are if the information transferred is already known or if the information becomes public at a later time. [Pg.101]

The number and amount of additives incorporated in a resin vary with resin type and application. A polyethylene resin, for instance, may have only an antioxidant incorporated, or a colorant may also be added. A PVC resin may require several plasticizers, a filler, a heat stabilizer, and a colorant. There are many variations, and in most cases, the final resin formulation is considered by the manufacturer to be proprietary information. A confidentiality agreement may be necessary to make certain that the material meets regulatory compliance, unless the supplier can give the end-user sufficient information to make the determination. [Pg.159]

The intent was to evaluate different established routes using different technologies of plastics recycling from an environmental point of view using life-cycle analysis (LCA) (Fig. 13.16). Approximately 20 companies participated. This means they were prepared to describe their process in detail and to inform on input of resources such as energy, feedstock, and the like and on output such as airborne and waterborne emissions, solid waste, heavy metals, and other environmentally important products. A secrecy agreement assured the companies protection of any proprietary information. [Pg.535]

A toller may need to use resources outside their company to measure physical properties, conduct safety or other testing, engineer changes to piping or other facilities and equipment. This need frequently occurs for products in the initial development or commercialization stage. The toller should maintain confidentiality agreements with their suppliers and subcontractors commensurate with the proprietary nature of their client companies processes. Provision to allow disclosure of information to third parties should be addressed in the contract between the toller and the client. It may be structured so that the client must approve the toller s release of information to third parties. [Pg.42]
