DICHLOROPROPENE, 1,3-DICHLORO-l-PROPENE, or 1,3-DICHLORO-PROPENE-1 (542-75-6) Forms explosive mixture with air (flash point 95°F/35°C). Reacts violently with strong oxidizers. Incompatible with strong acids, oxidizers, active metals, aluminum or magnesium compounds, aliphatic amines, alkanolamines, alkaline materials. Flow or agitation of substance may generate electrostatic charges due to low conductivity. 

Several possibilities for a large-scale synthesis of mesitylacetic acid 12, a central building block in the synthesis of spiromesifen 8a, were examined (Scheme 28.4.2). Bao and co-workers demonstrated a CDC reaction between 1,3-diaryl-propenes and 1,3-diketones in the absence of metal catalyst using DDQ (2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-l,4-benzoquinone) as the oxidant.
