Project Achieve

Treatment performance data for ongoing projects are shown in Tables 24.18 and 24.19, for pump-and-treat and drinking water treatment projects, respectively. Both types of projects treated groundwater with relatively high initial MTBE concentrations (>100,000 pg/L). The available data show that 10 of 11 drinking water treatment projects achieved treated MTBE concentrations of <50 pg/L, while the results for pump-and-treat were more widely distributed. 

One thing only is certain. To manage with one hand free you need to believe in yourself and your ideas. If you did not have this self-confidence before your learning project, and if your project achievements have not since given it to you, gaining time and space for your own ventures is unlikely to be a consideration for you. 

In its first two years of operation the NORMAN network proved its capabilities in all key areas foreseen in the project-planning period. A brief overview of the project achievements so far is given below.

The concept of a linear discriminant axis reduces the multidimensional classification problem to a single dimension, with the projection achieved so that discrimination between classes is preserved as well as possible. 

The settlement of contractors claims can be a nightmare which turns an apparently successfully completed project into a disaster. Claims settlement is one of the most frequent causes of major cost overrun. Even if the claims are disputed and eventually legally rejected, the length of time taken and the effort involved can leave, over an otherwise successful project, a cloud of uncertainty that remains until long after the project achievements have been forgotten.

The individual project achievements have stimulated general interest at the participating institutes. The results may be used by other research reactor centres. 

Project Achieve Targeting at-risk students, this schoolwide prevention and early intervention program has decreased disciplinary referrals by 67% and referrals for special education by 75%, while also increasing achievement test scores and overall academic performance (Knoff Batsche, 1995).
