Stimulants general

There is an enormous literature in this area and only a small fraction of this is cited. Only primary publications have been cited although, as far as possible, references to review articles have been given where extensive literature citations may be found. Attention is drawn to overviews that offer valuable and stimulating general perspectives (Errampalli et al. 1997 Strauss 1997).

The usefulness of this function, like that of the Morse function for diatomic molecules, depends upon its applicability to observational data and upon its convenience.
