A CIP system includes pipelines, interconnected with valves to direct fluid to appropriate locations, and the control circuit, which consists of interlines to control the valves that direct the cleaning solutions and water through the lines, and air lines which control and move the valves. A programmer controls the timing and the air flow to the valves on a set schedule. The 3A Standards for CIP components, equipment, and installation have been developed. A simple CIP system circuit is shown in Figure 11. [Pg.361]

In petrochemical and bulk commodity chemical manufacture, real-time process control has been a fact of life for many years. There is considerable understanding of processes and control of process parameters is usually maintained within tight specifications to ensure statistical process control to within six sigma, or the occurrence of one defect in a million. This has been enabled through the use of real-time analytical capability that works with programmable logic circuits to make small changes to various process inputs and physical parameters as required. [Pg.238]

Intrinsically safe electrical circuits provide the capability to combine the strengths of pneumatic and hydraulic systems with the sophistication of the programmable controllor and robotics, and to do so with the maximum safety and flexibility. [Pg.266]

The U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center and School is employing the use of intrinsically safe electrical circuits in equipment designed to demilitarize and renovate munitions - from small arms to large projectiles. This is accomplished by using pneumatics and hydraulics to provide the power, while using position switches and solenoid valves linked to programmable controllers to direct the total machine process. [Pg.266]

Finally, intrinsically safe electrical circuits are an old idea, whose time has just begun. Tomorrow s world will see ever greater uses of programmable controllors, robotics, solid state circuits, and other low energy devices. This is the world in which intrinsically safe circuits belong. [Pg.266]

Modern RTUs typically use a ladder-logic approach to programming due to its similarity to standard electrical circuits. An RTU that employs this ladder-logic programming is called a programmable logic controller (PLC). [Pg.119]

Electronic Time Fuze. Development of an electronic time fuze which would be substantially more accurate than exisitng time fuzes is described in the report of Texas Instruments, Inc (Ref). A programmable digital circuit is driven by. an oscillator based on a Picatinny Arsenal design. As power source, two types of battery, a silver-zinc primary battery and a reserve battery which uses ammonia as the electrolyte, were tried. A detailed manufacturing plan is included as an appendix... [Pg.717]

The mechanical programmers were replaced by electronic programmers. These depended mainly on different solid state time-logic RC circuits to increase the power to the column oven to supply the desired heating rates. This allowed multilinear pro-... [Pg.325]

Fig 2 shows the sequence of events of an electronic programmer system for a projectile. The projectile was equipped with a telemetry unit that transmitted the frequency of both oscillators and the outputs from both channels. The outputs occurred at T-70, T-60, T-40 and T-00 secs. The purpose of the test was primarily to determine if the decade dividers, output logic, and firing circuit would operate... [Pg.555]
