Process Maps Flowcharts

Measure. At this stage we are trying to tie down the process under consideration. Where does it start and end What should we be measuring to identify the deviation What data characteristics are repeatable and identifiable What is the capability of the process We use tools like process mapping, flowcharting, and FMEA (Eailure Model Effects Analysis). We develop a baseline for the targeted area and implement an appropriate measurement system. 

Via Fill Processing and Flow. A via fill process flowchart can be used to communicate the modified steps of a typical manufacturing flow. Two process maps are shown to illustrate two typical process flow variables of a plated-cap versus nonplated-cap via fill process. Reliability testing to segregate the performance of via fill materials with the cap-plate and noncap-plate features in the selected application should be performed prior to selecting this design feature. 

Besides the usual clarifications and modifications necessary to bring the text up to date, the text has been expanded to reinforce a decision-based approach. There are more flowcharts, correlation matrices, and algorithms that illustrate decision processes. Energy surfaces, normally the domain of graduate texts, serve as concept maps and allow... 

B. Explore. These components are in the Aspen Plus data bank and residue curves were generated with Aspen Plus using NRTL fFigure 11-111 (obviously, other process simulators could be used). Since there is one minimum boiling binary azeotrope between methanol (light component) and toluene (heavy) component without a distillation boundary, this residue curve map is similar to Figure 8-lla. We expect that the flowchart in either Figure 11-lQa or 11-1 Oh will do the separation. 

Value Stream Map A value stream map is now created. It is a preliminary flowchart that includes every step of the production process, as conceived of at this time. It is an important stage in the design in that it documents the processes to be considered in the waste elimination process. 

Previously, a value stream map was created when the project was in the concept stage. At this developmental phase, a flowchart is made to depict the proposed design and is reviewed. Muda, as previously stated, encompasses all activity that wastefully consumes resources but does not add value. This waste scavenger hunt is to further minimize product defect possibilities, overproduction, excessive product handling, idle and waiting time by operating personnel, excessive inventory, efficiency in processing, and the best possible use of employee skills. All personnel levels are involved.
