Process definition nomenclature

Common Definitions Membrane processes have been evolving since the 1960s with each application tending to generate its own terminology. Recommended nomenclature is provided along with alternatives in current use. 

There are two methods currently used to produce green coffee beans they will be described here as the wet and the dry methods. However, an alternative nomenclature is often used washed and natural processing , respectively, and to avoid a misunderstanding it is often necessary to obtain a definition of the processing used on a given batch of coffee beans. 

Nomenclature. The terms active agent and pharmacon designate substances that are capable of modifying life processes irrespective of whether the effects elicited may benefit or harm the organisms concerned. By this definition, a toxin is also a pharmacon. Taken in a narrower sense, a pharmacon means a substance that is used for therapeutic purposes. An unequivocal term for such a substance is medicinal drug. 

It was first reported in the early 1970s that these melt processible polymers could best be described as thermotropic systems which usually display an nematic texture in the melt phase [5]. Subsequently, a number of additional phases have been reported ranging from discotic structures to highly ordered smectic E G systems with three dimensional order. In the last several years an IUPAC sponsored study on nomenclature on thermotropic LPCs has been underway. A more complete set of definitions will be available shortly as a result of Recommendation No. 199 IUPAC [6].

This volume has just such a purpose. The first few chapters review the silanes and their derivatives in some detail, in order to provide an understanding of the fundamental chemistry of the nonsilicate compounds of silicon. The later chapters emphasize the silicone polymers which have achieved commercial importance and deal with the methods for their preparation, their chemical and physical properties, and their possible uses. The processes available for large-scale production are treated separately, and a review of methods of analysis is included. In order not to burden the text with definitions and explanations of nomenclature which might already be familiar to some readers, an extensive glossary of terms is appended. 

The redefinition of some terms and the creation of new definitions will facilitate the expression of ideas that are currently of greatest interest. As far as the chemical aspect of the problem is concerned, especially with regard to organic photochemistry, the nomenclature used is largely that of ordinary reactions. For that reason, the development here will be concerned mainly with what Noyes, Porter, and Jolley (12) referred to as the "primary photochemical process." In addition, because of the growing importance of energy transfer in the study of photochemical systems and the almost complete lack of a coherent nomenclature, this aspect will be considered in the following treatment. 

III. SUGGESTED TERMS AND DEFINITIONS The difficulties in nomenclature described in the previous sections as well as others which arise in the photochemical "language" may be overcome by using the terms, definitions, and symbols given below. Table 9 provides an overview on the definitions of SCCP as described in some regional international initiatives this table had been submitted to initiate the process for listing SCCPs under the Stockholm Convention [3].
