BioDeNOx process

Reactor Engineering Studies on the BiodeNOx absorption process... [Pg.793]

The BiodeNOx process is a novel process concept to reduce NO emissions from flue gases of stationary sources like power plants and other industrial activities [1]. The concept combines a wet chemicd absorption process with a novel biotechnological regeneration method. In the wet chemical absorption step, flue gas components are absorbed into an aqueous solution of Fe"(EDTA) (EDTA= ethylme-diamino-tetraacetic acid). The following reactions take place ... [Pg.793]

The biochemical processes of denitrification and Fe(III) reduction have been experimentally investigated in a batch reactor [5]. The feasibility of the integrated absorption-bioreaction process was demonstrated on a laboratory-scale setup [6], Figure 12.1 presents the principle of a biochemical process for NO removal (BioDeNOx). [Pg.340]

In this case study we will model, simulate and design an industrial-scale BioDeNOx process. Rigorous rate-based models of the absorption and reaction units will be presented, taking into account the kinetics of chemical and biochemical reactions, as well as the rate of gas-liquid mass transfer. After transformation in dimensionless form, the mathematical model will be solved numerically. Because of the steep profiles around the gas/liquid interface and of the relatively large number of chemical species involved, the numerical solution is computationally expensive. For this reason we will derive a simplified model, which will be used to size the units. Critical design and operating parameters will be identified... [Pg.340]

Characterization of microbial communities removing nitrogen oxides from flue gas the BioDeNOx process,... [Pg.360]

To avoid any additional pollution by the oxidation products and to ensure the low cost of the process, the BiodeNOx procedure was proposed, which is a novel technique for NO removal from industrial flue gases. In principle BioDeNOx is based on NO absorption into an aqueous [Fe (edta)(H20)] solution (Eq. 14) followed by NO reduction and [Fe (edta)] regeneration by the denitrifying bacteria ... [Pg.309]
