Probenecid Benzodiazepines

Salicylates antagonize probenecid s uricosuric action. Concurrent administration of probenecid increases die effects of acyclovir, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, dap-sone, mediotrexate, NSAIDs, rifampin, and the sulfonamides. [Pg.191]

The following agents may be affected by theophylline Benzodiazepines, -agonists, halothane, ketamine, lithium, nondepolarizing muscle relaxants, propofol, ranitidine, and tetracyclines. Probenecid may increase the effects of dyphylline. [Pg.738]

Drugs that may be affected by probenecid include acyclovir allopurinol barbiturates benzodiazepines clofibrate dapsone dyphylline methotrexate NSAIDs pantothenic acid penicillamine rifampin sulfonamides sulfonylureas zidovudine salicylates. [Pg.948]

Drugs that may affect benzodiazepines include alcohol, antacids, barbiturates, cimetidine, disulfiram, fluoxetine, isoniazid, ketoconazole, metoprolol, oral contraceptives, narcotics, probenecid, propoxyphene, propranolol, ranitidine, rifampin, scopolamine, theophylline, and valproic acid. [Pg.1021]

Drugs that may affect benzodiazepines include alcohol/CNS depressants, cimetidine, oral contraceptives, disulfiram, isoniazid, probenecid, rifampin, smoking, theophyllines, and macrolides. [Pg.1191]

Diflunisal Overdose (15 g) of diflunisal leads to poisoning, which could be fatal.51 Treatment can be given by gastric lavage and supportive care. Interactions of diflunisal with indomethacin, paracetamol, antacids, benzodiazepines, and probenecid have been reported.5 Concomitant use with indomethacin should be avoided, as this could cause fatal GI complications. [Pg.340]

Benzodiazepines Clofibric acid Ethacrynic acid Fenoprofen Flufenamic acid Ibuprofen Naproxen Probenecid... [Pg.336]

This is difficult to prove as it involves the increase in the sensitivity of drug receptors with age. It seems to be of importance with drugs such as the benzodiazepines and warfarin. In addition existing organ pathology such as renal or hepatic disease can affect drug response (for example with diuretics or probenecid). [Pg.39]

On the other hand, probenecid increases the plasma level of acyclovir, allopurinol, barbiturate, benzodiazepines, clof-ibrate, dapsone, dyphylline, methotrexate, NSAIDs, penicillamine, sulfonylureas, and zidovudine. [Pg.589]

Probenecid inhibits the renal tubular clearance of many drugs and their metabolites, including some of the benzodiazepines. It also inhibits the glucuronidation of nitrazepam and lorazepam by the liver. The overall result is that these benzodiazepines accumulate and their effects are increased. Temazepam, which also undergoes glucuronidation, was not affected, possibly as increased sulfation compensated. ... [Pg.734]

Established interactions but of uncertain clinical importance. Be alert for increases in the effects (sedation, antegrade amnesia) of adinazolam, lorazepam and possibly nitrazepam. Reduee the dosage as necessary. Note that adinazolam is no longer available. There seems to be no direct information about other benzodiazepines, but those that are metabolised like lorazepam and nitrazepam (e.g. oxazepam) may also interact. Temazepam does not appear to interact with probenecid. [Pg.734]
