Private trading systems

It is clear that collaboration plays a major role in both systems. While a benefit of traditional ERP is to provide manufacturers a way to consolidate business applications within a common framework, today s economy requires adding functionality spanning their vertical supply chain to maintain competitiveness. Gartner intends to foster this evolution to a vertical industry focus through ERP II, while AMR Research uses the Private Trading Exchange (PTX). 

The usability and functionality of the technology did not matter all that much. Most of the gee-whiz technology was already abundant on Wall Street—private trading networks and systems... 

ANSI was founded in 1918 to coordinate standardization activities in the private sector, and today it is the coordinating organization in the U.S. national standards system. In contrast with ASTM it does not develop standards, but it does provide the mechanism for determination of need and arranges for competent organizations to perform the standards development work. The membership of ANSI consists of about 1000 companies and more than 200 trade, technical, professional, labor, and consumer organizations (7). 

Unfortunately, consumers are reluctant to accept obvious trade-offs even when the private system can justify investments in AFVs and alternative fuel refueling infrastructure. Most vehicle consumers want it all. They want a low emissions vehicle, but insist that it be powerful as well. They want their large, heavy vehicle to be fuel efficient. They won t give up trunk space for a large gaseous fuel tank. They don t want to refuel on the opposite side of town, or even the opposite side of the street, even if that s where the alternative fuel is located. They want the reduced emissions and low noise of alternative fuel transit buses, but they also want low fares. 

Product certification is an essential part of the viability of organic producers, and is important in international trade. Some countries, for example in Europe, have subsidised the setting up of these systems. State help was provided with the implementation of a national protection of the word organic , with suitable standards and certification schemes.
