Density compensation may also be accomplished through electronic circuitry. Some systems compensate for density changes automatically through the design of the level detection circuitry. Other applications compensate for density by manually adjusting inputs to the circuit as the pressurizer cools down and depressurizes, or during heatup and pressurization. Calibration charts are also available to correct indications for changes in reference leg temperature. [Pg.77]

The theoretical steam rate (sometimes referred to as the water rate) for stream turbines can be determined from Keenan and Keyes or Mollier charts following a constant entropy path. The theoretical steam rate is given as Ib/hr/kw which is easily converted to Ib/hr/hp. One word of caution—in using Keenan and Keyes, steam pressures are given in PSIG. Sea level is the basis. For low steam pressures at high altitudes appropriate coirections must be made. The chosen coordinates defining minimum/maximum pH levels and minimum/maximum phosphate (as ppm P04) led to the production of various coordinated phosphate program control charts for different pressure ratings (maximum phosphate solubility is a function of pressure). The actual pressure exerted by the atmosphere varies with altitude and weather. A very low pressure atmospheric region, such as an area of low pressure on the weather chart in Fig. 4.6, typically has a pressure of about 0.98 atm at sea level. The top event of an event tree could be a release of a toxic gas from a relief valve. The team leader writes the top event on a flip chart. Each member of the multi-disciplined team to focus that event. Each of the second level events are defined and added to the detailed tree by repeatedly asking, Why did this event occur Because the system pressure rose. The question Why Because the alarm was ignored during a busy time. This continues until the true system causes are identified, such as the culture is to use shortcuts or not enough operators available for a difficult startup. [4]... [Pg.296]
