Present status evaluation generally

The fundamental theme for this review was the attempt to illustrate the "flavor of current research in this area. If one were to summarize (62, 146) the present status of our knowledge of these remarkable systems, it might be that most of the properties of excess electrons in solution can be interpreted in terms of models that are (qualitatively) easily understood, but quantitatively evaluated only with considerable effort. This is, indeed, an observation pertinent not only to metal solutions, but to inorganic chemistry in general ... [Pg.178]

The use of intravenous benzodiazepines administered by paramedics for the treatment of out-of-hospital status epilepticus has been evaluated in a double-blind, randomized trial in 205 adults (54). The patients presented either with seizures lasting 5 minutes or more or with repetitive generalized convulsive seizures, and were randomized to receive intravenous diazepam 5 mg, loraze-pam 2 mg, or placebo. Status epilepticus was controlled on arrival at the hospital in significantly more patients taking benzodiazepines than placebo (lorazepam 59%, diazepam 43%, placebo 21%). The rates of respiratory or circulatory complications related to drug treatment were 11% with lorazepam, 10% with diazepam, and 23% with placebo, but these differences were not significant. [Pg.380]

Additional information besides the DSM-IV-TR diagnosis is required before a comprehensive treatment plan can be developed. The American Psychiatric Association Practice Guidelines for Psychiatric Evaluation of Adults offers a more comprehensive approach to patient assessment. It includes a full discussion of the domains needed for a thorough clinical evaluation, including chief complaint history of present illness past psychiatric history general medical history social, family, and occupational history physical and mental status examinations and diagnostic tests. It further describes issues of privacy, evaluations in the elderly, and techniques for working with multidisciplinary teams. ... [Pg.1124]

The basic theory of photovoltaic and photoconductive detectors shall be presented in Section 4.1 in a unified form convenient for intercomparison of the two effects and of the various detector materials. Then Sections 4.2,4.3, and 4.4 shall cover photovoltaic, intrinsic photoconductive, and extrinsic photoconductive detectors, respectively, each of these sections including first a subsection in which the general theory of Section 4.1 is specialized to that class of detector, and then a subsection in which specific materials suitable for that class of detector are evaluated in terms of the theory. Finally in Section 4.5 we will draw some conclusions about the status and prospects of photovoltaic and photoconductive infrared detectors. Symbols used in this chapter which are not defined in the text are defined in Table 4.1. [Pg.101]

Anticoagulated patients are considered at an increased risk for epidural hematoma. The removal of an intrathecal or epidural catheter is as important as its placement when considering the risk involved. The coagulation status must be evaluated prior to discontinuing these catheters as noted in the case report presented by Rosen et al. [4]. An 18-year-old patient presented for aortic valve replacement secondary to aortic stenosis. A thoracic T9-T10 epidural was placed after an inhalation induction of general anesthesia. [Pg.205]

This concept of the mutually adjuvant effects of malnutrition and infestation seems so eminently reasonable and logical, and the common coexistence of poor nutritional status with a high incidence of such diseases as malaria, ancylostomiasis, and schistosomiasis seems to offer such obvious pnmo facie evidence for its truth, that it is perhaps not surprising that the detailed evidence on which it is based has not often been critically evaluated. It is the purpose of this paper to attempt to assess, without any iconoclastic intent, whether the evidence for these and similar assertions justifies the confidence with which they have been made, and to determine how far it is possible at present to formulate any broad generalizations about this aspect of host-parasite relationships. [Pg.240]

This paper focuses on fuzzy reasoning. A similar approach, although related to the evaluation of an aircrew status, was presented in the work by (Skorupski Wiktorowski 2013). This paper is a followup to the work by (Skorupski Uchronski 2014), where the general structure of interaction model in the airport security model is discussed in detail. [Pg.799]
