Using the MATLAB Identification Toolbox and PRBS test signals is much more complex than using simple step tests or relay feedback tests. Much more data are required and the analysis is more difficult. However, the PRBS method is probably better in situations where the signals from the process are heavily corrupted by noise that cannot be simply filtered out.
