Popliteal artery entrapment occurred in a patient with distal necrosis and cannabis-related arteritis, two rare or exceptional disorders that have never been described in association (74). [Pg.475]

The authors suggested that popliteal artery entrapment in a young patient with non-specific symptoms should raise the suspicion of a cannabis-related lesion. Their review of literature suggested that this condition affects... [Pg.475]

A 43-year-old man developed a false aneurysm of the popliteal artery after a penetrating injury from an acupuncture needle (118). The aneurysm ruptured spontaneously, but the patient was successfully managed by vascular surgery. [Pg.892]

Popliteal artery and the adjacent arterial branch may be perforated by wire passing or drilling during placement of internal fixation materials on the tibial side or injured during dissection of the femoral ACL stump. The key to diagnosis is the development of signs of cyanosis and compartment syndrome due to the damaged... [Pg.510]

The dislocation is described according to the direction of tibial displacement relative to the femur. Anterior dislocation is the commonest type, and is associated with disruption of the anterior cruciate ligament, the posterior joint capsule and popliteal artery damage. Posterior dislocation can also be associated with arterial injury. Rotary or posterolateral dislocation is caused by force abduction and internal rotation. On the lateral radiograph, the femoral condyle is in profile but the tibia is rotated posterolaterally and the proximal tibiofibular joint is seen in its entirety. An early complete assessment and documentation of the neurovascular status of the leg distally is vital. Also look for signs of compartment syndrome. [Pg.220]

In the young, two congenital lesions are noteworthy (1) entrapment of the popliteal artery, causing calf claudication with walking but not with running, and (2) adventitial cystic disease of the popliteal or femoral arteries (62-65). Both warrant surgical repair. [Pg.11]

Angioplasty for claudication can be separated into two anatomic areas for purposes of applicable techniques and expected results. The suprainguinal region describes stenoses in the aortoiliac vessels, whereas the infrainguinal area of pathology includes the femoral and popliteal arteries as well as vessels below the knee. [Pg.262]
