The major requirements of a good vascular graft include nonfraying, flexibility, durability, biocompatibility, stability to sterilization, and resistance to bacteria/ viruses. A knitted polyester vascular prosthesis has become the standard vascular graft for replacement of arterial vessels of 6 mm and greater.
