Polyvinyl caprolactam

Kalivoda et al. in 2012 studied the use of blends of different polymeric carriers to enhance the dissolution rate of the poorly water-soluble model drug fenofibrate via HME technology. Copovidone (COP), polyvinyl caprolactam-polyvinyl acetate-polyethylene glycol copolymer (PVCL-PVAc-PEG) and hypromellose 2910/5 (HPMC) were used as a polymeric carriers. Hot-melt extruded feno-flbrate was evaluated by DSC and x-ray diffractometry. Dissolution studies showed that there was a significant increase in the dissolution rate of the hot-melt extruded fenofibrate compared to the pure drug or physical mixture of drug and polymeric carriers. These researchers reported that the fenofibrate extrudates exhibited a 7.6- to 12.1-fold supersaturation and provided superior dissolution performance than marketed formulations Lipidil and Lipidil -Ter. [Pg.224]

Pa sec. This is feasible for certain polymers like polyethylene oxides (PEO), polyethylene glycols, waxes and polyvinyl caprolactam-polivinyl acetate-polyethylene glycol (Soluplus ) for both single and twin types of extruders but not for polymers with high T or melt viscosity like acrylic, methacrylic and methacrylate copolymers and also for polyvinylpyrrolidone grades at the extrusion temperatures normally employed for pharmaceuticals between 100-180"C, for which the use of plasticizers described in the following section is imperative for smooth extrusion. [Pg.140]

DIMETHYLNITROSAMINE, A,Af-DIMETHYLNITROSAMINE, or DIMETHYLNI-TROSOAMINE (62-75-9) An organic base. Incompatible with organic anhydrides, acrylates, alcohols, aldehydes, alkylene oxides, substituted allyls, cellulose nitrate, cresols, caprolactam solution, epichlorohydrin, ethylene dichloride, isocyanates, ketones, glycols, maleic anhydride, nitrates, phenols, vinyl acetate. May increase the explosive sensitivity of nitromethane. UV light, strong oxidizers can cause reactions. Store in dark bottles. Attacks natural and nitrile rubbers, neoprene, polyvinyl alcohol, PVC, Viton . [Pg.457]

Of the amines, esters of /3-aminocrotonic and p-aminobenzoic acids, p-aminobenzenesulfamide [63, 266], hexamethylenetetramine [267], and certain others have been used for the stabilization of polyvinyl chloride. Phenyl-/ -naphthylamine, ethylphenylethanolamine [269], dicyanallqtl-amines [270], caprolactam [271], and N-(p-aminophenyl)hexamethylene-imine [268] have been recommended in the patent literature for the stabilization of polyvinyl chloride and vinyl chloride copolymers,... [Pg.210]
