Polyesteramides applications

The successful application development for hyperbranched polyesteramides is primarily based on the many research programs started several years ago for dendrimers. For most of the potential and existing applications the high number of end groups and the multifunctionality are the predominant advantages. These characteristics are shared by dendrimers and hyperbranched materials alike. Only in some special cases, such as medical applications [23], is monodis-persity the main issue and thus dendrimers are preferred in this particular case. [Pg.63]

Hyperbranched polyesteramides, partially or fully functionalized with fluoroalkyl chains, are expected to be valuable additives for numerous applications. A fully functionalized derivative could be considered to be a unimolecular micelle (like the polyethyleneoxide functionalized analogue) suitable for, e. g., extractions in organic media. An idealized example is shown in Fig. 27. [Pg.75]

We are currently investigating the synthesis and characterization of such molecules for numerous different applications such as surfactants, cosmetics, and toner resins. A point of interest in the preparation and characterization of multifunctional hyperbranched molecules is the compositional heterogeneity (how many and what type of functional groups are on a particular hyperbranched po-lyesteramide molecule) and the positional heterogeneity (spatial distribution of the functional groups on a particular hyperbranched polyesteramide molecule). [Pg.78]

Applications for the Stabaxol stabilizers include thermoplastic polyester urethanes, polyesteramide thermoplastic elastomers, castable polyester urethanes, polyester polyols, monofilament PET fibers, polycarbonates, polycarbonate/PETblends, EVA copolymers and poly(caprolactones). The thermal stabilization of poly(ethylene sulfide) is also accomplished with 4 % hexamethylenebis(t-butyl)carbodiimide and 2 % diphenylacetylene. Also, alternating carbon monoxide/ethylene copolymers are stabilized using aromatic carbodiimides. ... [Pg.272]

Multilayer co-extrusion is another technique used in the preparation of starch/ synthetic sheets or films [164, 263-266], in which TPS is laminated with appropriate biodegradable polymers to improve the mechanical, water-resistance and gas-barrier properties of final products. These products have shown potential for applications such as food packaging and disposable product manufacture. Three-layer co-extrusion is most often practiced, in which a co-extrusion line consists of two single-screw extruders (one for the inner starch layer and the other for the outer polymer layers) a feedblock a coat-hanger-type sheet die and a three-roll calendering system [164]. Biodegradable polyesters such as PCL [164, 264], PLA [164, 263], and polyesteramide, PBSA and poly(hydroxybutyrate-co-valerate) [164] are often used for the outer layers. These new blends and composites are extending the utilization of starch-based materials into new value-added products. [Pg.147]
