Polyaniline is an attractive electropolymerizable polymer for surface modifications due to its unique redox properties, high electrical conductance, and ease of preparation. In addition, polyaniline-modified surfaces retain a large specific surface area and can remain conductive facilitating subsequent electron transfer. Feng and coworkers [8] constructed a DNA impedance biosensor based on gold nanoparticle/pol5 niline nanotube membranes formed in the presence of chitosan as shown in Fig. 14.1. Chitosan was used... [Pg.431]

Polyaniline modified GCEs were prepared by depositing polyaniline film on polished GCE from 0.1 M aniline in 1.0 M perchloric acid and 0.1 M aniline plus 0.2 M TBAP in acetonitrile by cycling the potential at 100 mV s- between -0.2 and 0.9 V vs. Ag/AgCl for 5 cycles. [Pg.62]

Figure 7 shows the response of polyaniline modified with copper chloride (CuCy and unmodified polyaniline to 10 ppm H2S. The unmodified film shows essentially no change in resistance, while the modified polyaniline film shows a resistance decrease of over four orders of magnitude. [Pg.111]

These authors have reported a greater current for oxidation of formic acid on a polyaniline-modified platinum electrode than on a bare platinum electrode. This increase in current indicates the promoting effect of polyaniline, which can be due to the prevention of contamination of the platinum electrode by strong adsorption of the carbonyl group. These authors have also reported that CO (carbon monoxide) does not become adsorbed on polyaniline. Aurian-Blageni et al... [Pg.521]

We have found similar results in our laboratories making impregnated papers with PPy and PAn for inverse thin layer chromatography. 7 0 method we used to prepare polyaniline-modified paper was to load filter paper strips with aniline, which was allowed to diffuse throughout the paper for about ten minutes. The strips were then immersed in FeClj that had been acidified with HCl. Chemical polymerization was allowed to proceed for about forty hours. The chemical structure of polyaniline prepared in this matter was presumed to be the same as the electrochemically polymerized polymer. However, the morphology of the polymer surface was that of the filter paper substrate. The polyaniline adheres well to the filter paper when it is dried, and no problems with chemical instability were observed. [Pg.216]
