Poly radicals

The idea of stacking monoradicals with S = 1/2 and di- or poly-radicals with 5 > 1 in mixed crystals was proposed by Buchachenko (Buchachenko, 1979). If the chemical structures are almost identical, the two component radicals will have a chance to stack in alternation and the two spin sublattices having S = 1/2 and S> 1, respectively, will be formed with opposite orientation.

All the theories predict that poly radicals [14] consisting of w-diphenylmethyl units connected at m-positions should have S = m/2 and spin multiplicities of m + 1. The exchange interactions between the radical centres in [14] are estimated to be 0.2055 and 0.0012 eV for the first and second neighbours, respectively (Tyutyulkov and Karabunarliev, 1986).

For conductivity we need poly-radical ionic salts that are conjugated conjugation results in straight, rigid chains in which angles only occur at points of defect. 

In this cormection, systematic stndies were made of the inhibiting effect of many stable mono and poly radicals on the kinetics and mechanism of vinyl monomer polymerization. The efCtiency of nitroxyls as free radical acceptors has promoted their usage to explore the mechanism of polymerization by means of the inhibition technique. Usually, nitroxyls have time to only react with a part of the radicals formed at... 

The following tables give the spin-Hamilton parameters g and of free radicals as determined mainly by spectroscopic measurements on liquid or solid samples. Gaseous phase di- and tri-atomic radicals are included in the tables on inorganic radicals. There is a special table on organic poly radicals and a collection of information on spin-labelled biomolecules. 

Irrespective of these differences, both approaches have proved to be extremely successful for the preparation of dendritic macromolecules. By the use of either the divergent or convergent growth approaches a number of different groups have prepared dendrimers based on a wide variety of functional groups i.e. dendritic poly(amides) (5), poly(etherketones) (6), poly(amines) (7), poly(phenylenes) (8), poly(silanes) (9), poly(phosphonium salts) (10), poly(esters) (11), poly(phenylacetylenes) (12), poly(alkanes) (13), etc. Interesting variations on this theme have been the preparation of optically active dendrimers (14), dendritic poly(radicals) (15), and dendrimers based on co-ordination chemistry with...
