Platinum supported catalysts, carbon monoxide catalysts preparation

Stonehart examined highly dispersed platinum and alloys of Pt-Pd7a73 and found that with sophisticated catalyst preparation techniques, it was possible to maintain very small crystallites of these binary alloys on carbon supports, and that the alloys were more active than Pt alone for hydrogen oxidation in the presence of both carbon monoxide and... [Pg.419]

The presence of thallium(0) led to an increase in activity and selectivity of metallic palladium catalysts supported on silica in aldose oxidation reactions. However, silica-supported thallium(0) had no activity by itself (entry 3). ° Similarly, the bimetallic catalyst platinum-thallium/ZSM-5, prepared by impregnation of thallium sulfate and chloroplatinic acid on Zeolite Socony Mobil-5 (ZSM-5), showed greater selectivity in propane aromatisation and almost the same catalytic activity as monometallic thallium/ZSM-5 (entry 4). Similar comparison of vanadium-caesium-copper and vanadium-caesium-copper-thallium catalysts supported on TiOa.SiC demonstrated that addition of thallium improved the catalytic activity in partial oxidation of p-tert-butyltoluene to p-tert-butyl-benzaldehyde (entry The application of solid-supported thallium-based catalysts in different processes includes (a) iron-thallium catalysts in carbon monoxide hydrogenations to form hydrocarbons and alcohols, and catalytic reforming of... [Pg.227]

However, although the determination of the heat of adsorption of carbon monoxide on platinum have been reported in the literature (Table 12.2), the possible use of adsorption microcalorimetry as an available technique for giving valuable information in PEM fuel cells smdies has not been reported. In what follows, recent results from our work in the field of microcalorimetry of CO adsorption on Pt/C catalysts are presented [65-67]. The catalysts used in these studies were different commercial carbon-supported platinum, with high Pt loading, aimed to be used in PEMFCs applications. Particular emphasis on the sample history (preparation method, the support material, the metal loading) and the pre-treatment of the catalysts on the CO poisoning effect on supported platinum is paid. [Pg.441]
