At least two manufacturers have developed and installed machines rated to produce more than 210 MW of electricity in the simple-cycle mode. In both cases, the machines were designed and manufactured through cooperative ventures between two or more international gas turbine developers. One 50-Hz unit, first installed as a peaking power faciUty in France, is rated for a gross output of 212 MW and a net simple-cycle efficiency of 34.2% for natural-gas firing. When integrated into an enhanced three-pressure, combined-cycle with reheat, net plant efficiencies in excess of 54% reportedly can be achieved.

Aluminum Chloride-Based All lation. The eadier alkylation processes were variations of the Eriedel-Craft reaction on an aluminum chloride catalyst complex in a Hquid-phase reactor (27), including those developed by Dow Chemical, BASE, Monsanto, and Union Carbide in cooperation with Badger. The Union Carbide-Badger process was the one most widely used during the 1960s and 1970s, with 20 plants built worldwide.

While tlris qualitative technique is most commonly applied to operating process plants, it is also applicable to pilot plants, laboratories, storage facilities, or support functions. This comprehensive review is intended to complement other safety efforts and routine visual inspections. It should be treated as a cooperative effort to improve the overall safety and performance of the plant rather than as a dreaded intciference vvitli normal operations. Cooperation is essential. People tne likely to become defensive unless considerable effort is made to present the review as a benefit to each participant. 

Applications of structured packing into ethylene plant s various column systems [119] have been successfully achieved, but the individual manufacturers must be consulted to use their most directly applicable pilot and commercial data, which are generally not published. The use of published general correlations should only be used for a first or approximation design, while the delicate or important final design must be performed in cooperation with the manufacturer.

In each and every boiler plant around the world, almost without exception, the absence of a decent water treatment program most certainly will ensure that these operational and economic benefits are not attained. Cooperation is required between all parties, and in practice the necessary water treatment functions are inextricably interwoven within the daily mechanical operation of the overall boiler plant.
