You have available in your pilot plant a small recycle reactor whose flow pattern may be represented schematically by the following diagram. 

Figure 4.15 shows a tentative flow diagram of the pilot plant [33]. Sensible heat of high-temperature (up to 880°C) and high-pressure (4 MPa) helium (He) gas, which is the same...

Figure 37 shows a simplified block diagram of the process currently studied in a pilot plant rig. The process uses off-the-shelf cells (ICI FM 21) and plant technology.

In 1944 a fluid catalyst pilot plant was erected and operated at the Olean laboratory. A schematic flow diagram of the unit is shown in Figure 1. The unit operated well from the beginning. The conversion of jeactants exceeded that achieved by the Germans even at space velocities 10 to 20 times those used in Europe. Also, iron catalysts were developed which gave oil yields comparable with those obtained by fixed-bed operations. Typical results from these early experiments are shown in Table I. A discussion of the conditions for the different runs is given in subsequent paragraphs. 

Based on Chis work, Che Chemical Engineering Department of Auburn University is developing a pilot plant for waste oil recovery (see flow diagram). The pilot plant will have a capacity to treat 5 gallons min of waste oil. Further research work is still being carried out in chis field. 

The pilot plant has a throughput of about 25 kg water/h, and a basic flow-diagram is shown in Figure 9.4-11.

C-E Lummus/Cities Service LC-Fining process licensed by AMOCO (van Driesen and Fornoff, 1985 Beaton et al., 1986) utilizes an expanded-bed reactor. A flow diagram of the LC-Fining process is shown in Fig. 17. The Canadian DOE CANMET process (Menzies et al., 1981), the Exxon M-Coke (Bearden and Aldridge, 1981), and the UOP Aurabon (Anderson et al., 1982) processes now in pilot plant stages of development employ slurry reactors. 

The experiments were carried out in a versatile pilot plant (Separex, France). A schematic diagram of the apparatus is shown in Fig. 1. Carbon dioxide is cooled and stored in a liquid CO2 storage tank (2). It can be circulated at a maximum flow of 25kgh 1 by a membrane pump (Lewa, Germany)...

For our studies, a SCWO pilot plant was designed and built. The process diagram is presented in figure 1.
