Pigments antimony

Use Vermilion or yellow pigment, antimony salts, pyrotechnics, matches, percussion caps, camouflage paints (reflects infrared radiation in same way as green vegetation), ruby glass. [Pg.93]

Uses Vermilion or yellow pigment antimony salts raw material in pyrotechnics, matches, explosives, percussion caps camouflage paints ruby glass ingred. [Pg.982]

Senarmontite is not thought to have been used as a pigment. However, as with valentinite, senarmontite may he found as a rehct phase in the roasting of stibnite which is performed to produce the synthetic white pigment, antimony(III) oxide ( antimony white , qq.v.). [Pg.337]

Acryhc and modacryhc fibers are sold mainly as staple and tow products with small amounts of continuous filament fiber sold in Europe and Japan. Staple lengths may vary from 25 to 150 mm, depending on the end use. Eiber deniers may vary from 1.3 to 17 dtex (1.2 to 15 den) 3.2 dtex (3.0 den) is the standard form. The appearance of acryhcs under microscopical examination may differ from that of modacryhcs in two respects. Eirst, the cross sections (Eig. 1) of acryhcs are generally round, bean-shaped, or dogbone-shaped. The modacryhcs, on the other hand, vary from irregularly round to ribbon-like. The modacryhcs may also contain pigment-like particles of antimony oxide to enhance their flame-retardant properties. [Pg.274]

The most common white pigments are titanium dioxide, 2inc oxide, leaded 2inc oxide, 2inc sulfide [1314-98-3], and Hthopone, a mixture of 2inc sulfide and barium sulfate [7727-43-7]. The use of lead whites and antimony oxides has been decreasing steadily for environmental reasons. [Pg.7]

OtherTitanates. Nickel titanate [12035-39-1/, NiTiO, is a canary-yeUow soHd having a density of 73(00). When a mixture of antimony oxide, nickel carbonate, and titanium dioxide is heated at 980°C, nickel antimony titanate [8007-18-9] forms, which is used as a yellow pigment (95). [Pg.128]

Antimony trioxide and sodium antimonate are added to specialty glasses as decolorizing and fining agents, and are used as opacifiers in porcelain enamels. Antimony oxides are used as white pigments in paints, whereas antimony trisulfide and pentasulfide yield black, vermilHon, yeUow, and orange... [Pg.198]

Antimony trisulfide is used ia fireworks, ia certain types of matches, as a pigment, and ia the manufacture of mby glass. [Pg.205]

Titanate Pigments. When a nickel salt and antimony oxide are calcined with mtile titanium dioxide at just below 1000°C, some of the added metals diffuse into the titanium dioxide crystal lattice and a yellow color results. In a similar manner, a buff may be produced with chromium and antimony a green, with cobalt and nickel and a blue, with cobalt and aluminum. These pigments are relatively weak but have extreme heat resistance and outdoor weatherabihty, eg, the yellow is used where a light cadmium could not be considered. They are compatible with most resins. [Pg.459]

Mixed-phase oxide pigments are manufactured by high temperature (800-1000 °C) solid state reactions of the individual oxide components in the appropriate quantities. The preparation of nickel antimony titanium yellow, for example, involves reaction of Ti02, NiO and Sb203 carried out in the presence of oxygen or other suitable oxidising agent to effect the necessary oxidation of Sb(m) to Sb(v) in the lattice. [Pg.155]

In halogen-containing rubbers, zinc hydroxystannate can be substituted as a non toxic replacement for antimony trioxide to reduce smoke and toxic gas emission. Zinc hydroxystannate does not pigment the rubber and can be used to produce clear or translucent products. [Pg.150]

Sulfides of arsenic and antimony are brightly colored, which has given rise to their use as pigments. Some of the sulfides, selenides, and tellurides of arsenic and antimony also function as semiconductors. [Pg.503]

White pigments, some of rather variable composition, that have been used in the past include white lead (Cl Pigment White 1), refractive index 1.9 zinc oxide (Cl Pigment White 4), r.i. 1.9 lithopone (Cl Pigment White 5), r.i. 1.84 zinc sulphide (Cl Pigment White 7), r.i. 2.3 antimony oxide (Cl Pigment White 11), r.i. 2.2. All have been eclipsed by titanium dioxide (Cl Pigment White 6). [Pg.76]
