Photoirradiations, method

Akiya et al. [55] developed a photoirradiated method for the synthesis of o-alkynylaiyl isocyanides in the presence of iodine via the intramolecular cyclization of o-alkynylaryl isocyanides affording the corresponding 2,4-diiodoquinolines 28 (Scheme 10.21). 2,4-Diiodoquinolines can be used in different cross-coupling reactions catalyzed by transition metal catalysts. [Pg.292]

Iwasawa and co-workers developed a facile method for the construction of polycyclic indole derivatives 190a and 190b by the tungsten(0)-catalyzed reaction of A-(2-(l-alkynyl)phenyl)imine 188 with the electron-rich alkenes 189a and 189b (Scheme 32).42b Photoirradiation of a mixture of imine 188 and ketene silyl acetal 189a with 10mol% of... [Pg.716]

The photoirradiation effect can be replaced by copper salt catalysis. The catalyzed reactions proceed rapidly and result in a high degree of transformation. Interestingly, ESR method reveals no organic paramagnetic particles in the course of the reaction between haloaryls and phenyl thiolates. The addition of oxidants (oxygen and DNB) or radical acceptors (di(tert-butyl)nitroxide) does not inhibit the substitution. These facts are understandable from Scheme 7.68 (Bowman et al. 1984, Liedholm 1984). [Pg.395]

Since there are 30 double bonds to react in fullerene Cgo, the [2-1-2] cycloaddition of Cgo molecules at these bonds results in the formation of so-called fullerene polymers [19]. Although it seemed important to clarify the structure and properties of the most basic unit of these polymers such as dimers and trimers, the method for preparation of these polymers such as high-pres-sure/high-temperature treatment or photoirradiation was not suitable to stop the [2-1-2] reaction at the stage of dimerization or trimerization. [Pg.188]

Photochemically induced electron ejection from anions has been used in the preparation of radical anions in the cavity of an ESR spectrometer. Subtle structural differences between the radical anions prepared by photoirradiation and by other ways were outlined [50, 51], Two modes of radical anion photoinitiated formation were used. An electron is photoejected from the excited fluorene anion and adds to a neutral fluorene molecule in a subsequent step (A) or a dianion obtained from the potassium mirror reduction of tetrabenzocyctloocatetraene is directly photooxidized to the corresponding radical anion (B). This last method was also used to generate the otherwise inaccessible radical anion of pentalene, starting from the corresponding dianion irradiated in an ESR probe [52],... [Pg.102]

On the other hand, there has been no report on the latter method until we found that the racemic crystal of a cobaloxime complex showed optical rotation after the crystal was exposed to visible light [11]. This indicates that only photoirradiation produced chiral substances in a racemic crystal. [Pg.533]

Properties of Si02 Thin Films by the Sol-Cel Method Using Photoirradiation and Its Application to Surface Coating for Display... [Pg.202]

This chapter describes preparation of Si02 thin film by the sol-gel method using photoirradiation and the effect of heat treatment on the molecular structure of the Si02 in the film examined using Raman and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The relationships between the molecular characteristics and physical properties such as hardness and etch rate are derived, and applications for the new process are described. [Pg.203]

FIGURE 17.1 Synthetic procedure for Si02 films by the sol-gel method using photoirradiation. [Pg.204]

As shown previously, a technique for thin film preparation at low temperatures has been developed in which photoirradiation is combined with the sol-gel method. This has been used to produce Si02 thin films. Harder, denser films were prepared at lower temperatures than by conventional heat treatment. The hardness and HF etch rate were related to the molecular structure of the thin films. Photoirradiation cleaved Si-O-Si bonds so that unfolding of the Si02 ring structure was enhanced at low temperatures and densification of the thin film was promoted. [Pg.209]

Modem displays have a variety of surface coatings, such as antireflection film, antistatic film, insulator film, and protection film. Si02 thin film is widely used as a functional surface coating film for displays. This chapter describes surface coatings for displays by the sol-gel method using photoirradiation. [Pg.209]

This chapter reports on a newly developed, simple, low-temperature film formation technique for preparing antireflection/antistatic films. This process uses the sol-gel method and photoirradiation. [Pg.210]
