Uses Phosphamidon is used as a broad-spectrum insecticide in agriculture. It is toxic both systemically and by contact, and acts through the inhibition of ChE. Phosphamidon currently is registered for use by both ground and aerial applications on vegetables, fruits, and field crops.28

The chemical is banned. Banned for import, production, having in possession and use as agricultural pesticide. All formulations and uses were prohibited by the final regulatory action. Very high acute toxicity, extremely hazardous and risk to workers in formulation plant and during application by spraying.

Note When the concentration of substance is sufficiently high endosulfan and phosphamidon sometimes appear as yellowish-brown zones after application of the first two reagents of the sequence. 

The reagent sequence is specific for endosulfan and phosphamidon. Other insecticides, e.g. organochlorine insecticides, such as endrin, aldrin, dieldrin, DDT and BHC, organophosphorus insecticides, such as malathion, parathion, dimethoate, quinalphos, phorate and fenitrothion, or carbamate insecticides, such as baygon, car-baryl and carbofuran do not react. Neither is there interference from amino acids, peptides or proteins which might be extracted from the biological material together with the pesticides.

Kavetskii et al. [224] developed a method for the simultaneous determination of pesticides in soil. A combination of thin layer chromatography and gas chromatography was used. The pesticides examined were 4,4 DDT, 4,4 DDD, 4,4 DDE, 2,4 DDT, GHCG, aGHCG, Metaphos, Phosphamidon, Phozalone, Atrazine, Prometryne, Simazine and 2,4 dichlorophenoxy acetic acid. Detection limits were in the range 0.5-5pg kgy1.
