One moment. Bob leaves his bed, jumps into his personal cleaning unit, and exactly 2xn seconds later he is fully washed, dried, and clothed. He opens the door with a wave of his hand, and his two friends come in. [Pg.40]

When one comes into contact with epoxy resins or any of the chemicals used with epoxy resins, he or she should immediately wash off any components that get on the skin. Do not use solvents for personal clean-up, but use soap and water or a commercial cleaner. Particular attention needs to paid to fingernails and the area around the nail bed. After washing, a skin conditioner or lotion should be used to help keep the skin in good condition and protected. [Pg.422]

If the chemist does not dean his own apparatus, or have it cleaned under his direct supervision, he must be very careful not to leave containers with residues which are highly inflammable or explosive or strongly poisonous (such as ether, alkali metals, sodium amide, dimethyl sulfate, phosgene, etc.). The neglect of this rule has resulted in many accidents, since the person cleaning the apparatus is not aware of the danger. Residues of this sort should not be emptied into the laboratory sink, but should be treated so as to make them as harmless as possible. [Pg.273]

In a survey of occupational exposure to glycol ethers in France that used both atmospheric and biological monitoring, the highest level of exposure to 2-butoxyethanol was among persons cleaning cars (Vincent et al. 1996). The average concentration of 2-butoxyethanol in air was 1.8 ppm, with pre- and post-shift... [Pg.339]

A variety of test procedures exist for determining the relative mildness of personal cleaning products on human skin. The overall categories for the methods include patch testing, exaggerated use test, consumer use tests, and flex wash test [169-174],... [Pg.429]

If the masters had been shaken the night before, the inoculations can begin the following morning or as soon as the receivingjars (G-2) have cooled. Again, wash the lab, be personally clean and wear newly laundered clothes. [Pg.49]

Detoxification is not really treatment. It simply is a process to get a person cleaned up. Detoxification clients are certainly referred to treatment but many go back out on the street following detoxification. So, if you remove detoxification from the treatment data, nearly two-thirds of actual treatment occurred in an ambulatory, outpatient setting which is the least intensive treatment nearly 13 percent in intensive outpatient, about 11 percent was short-term residential, and 11 percent was long-term residential. [Pg.130]

Medical patients may have equipment and instmments attached inside or outside their bodies. Small currents leaking from one instmment to another may be sufficiently large to cause injury or death. There are many ways a patient can become part of a circuit. A patient could reach out and directly contact equipment. Hospital staff could be in contact with electric equipment and touch a patient. Even a person cleaning the floor with a vacuum cleaner could create a leakage current hazard. A serious hazard exists when a patient has a catheter in or near the heart or has an electrical... [Pg.149]

SMEs and sulfonated fatty acids are commercially available as blends for use in household and personal cleaning products. As cleaning and personal-care formulations become more concentrated and milder, alpha-sulfo fatty derivatives will become even more attractive. Also since methyl esters are an abundant feedstock, their conversion to SMEs for use as bulk anionics is likely to grow. As quoted by Ed A. Knaggs, a former Stepan employee As already stated, alpha sulfo fatty derivatives have exceptional and unique properties which can be varied and tailored to meet an extremely wide variety of surfactant applications Hence, their acceptance is basically limited only by research,... [Pg.141]
