New materials are also finding application in the area of catalysis reiated to the Chemicals industry. For example, microporous [10] materials which have titanium incorporated into the framework structure (e.g. so-calied TS-1) show selective oxidation behaviour with aqueous hydrogen peroxide as oxidizing agent (Figure 5). Two processes based on these new catalytic materials have now been developed and commercialized by ENl. These include the selective oxidation of phenol to catechol and hydroquinone and the ammoxidation of cyclohexanone to e-caproiactam. 

An example of synthesis by N—N bond formation is shown in the conversion (102) peroxide as oxidizing agent has advantages over NBS or Pb(OAc)4 (91T2851). 

The Lewis acid mechanism occurs with early transition metals (e.g.. Mo, V, Re) which generally utilize organic peroxides as oxidizing agents. The mechanism involves the transfer of the oxygen atom next to metal center, the proximal oxygen, in a concerted step that leaves the oxidation state of the metal unchanged.

An alternative method for demonstrating chemiluminescence, using potassium fer-ricyanide and hydrogen peroxide as oxidizing agents, is described in E. H. Huntress, L. N. Stanley, and A. S. Parker, Journal of Chemical Education, 11 (1934) 142. 

Enzymatic epoxidation of polybutadiene was demonstrated (205). Lipase CA catalyzed the oxidation of polybutadiene using hydrogen peroxide as oxidizing agent in the presence of acetic acid.
