Peroxide-Nitrate Mixture

For the analysis of rhenium, the sample is fused with sodium peroxide and rhenium precipitated from hydrochloric acid solution as Re2S7 by hydrogen sulfide. The precipitate is dissolved in aqueous sodium peroxide and from dilute sulfuric acid solution, rhenium is determined by electrodeposition.8 Chlorine is determined gravimetrically by fusion of the sample with a sodium carbonate/ sodium nitrate mixture (95 5) in a platinum crucible and then precipitating as silver chloride. [Pg.118]

Organic selenium compounds and siUceous materials (rock, ore, concentrates) are fused with mixtures of sodium carbonate and various oxidants, eg, sodium peroxide, potassium nitrate, or potassium persulfate. For volatile compounds, this fusion is performed in a bomb or a closed system microwave digestion vessel. An oxidizing fusion usually converts selenium into Se(VI) rather than Se(IV). [Pg.335]

Heating with the following solids, their fusions, or vapours (a) oxides, peroxides, hydroxides, nitrates, nitrites, sulphides, cyanides, hexacyano-ferrate(III), and hexacyanoferrate(II) of the alkali and alkaline-earth metals (except oxides and hydroxides of calcium and strontium) (b) molten lead, silver, copper, zinc, bismuth, tin, or gold, or mixtures which form these metals upon reduction (c) phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, or silicon, or mixtures which form these elements upon reduction, particularly phosphates, arsenates,... [Pg.95]

Liquid-liquid reactions occur between two or more liquid phases whereby a system consisting of an organic and an aqueous phase is applied most frequently. Usually reaction takes place in one phase only. Phase-transfer catalysts are sometimes used to make transfer of a reactant to the reacting phase easier. Among typical liquid-liquid reactions utilized in fine chemicals manufacture are nitrations with mixtures of nitric and sulphuric acid, conventional hydroxylations performed with hydrogen peroxide, esterifications, alkylations, brominations, and iodinations. [Pg.261]

Copper(II) nitrate immobilized on K 10 clay (claycop)-hydrogen peroxide system is an effective oxidant for a variety of substrates and provides excellent yields (Scheme 6.31) [104] wherein the maintenance of pH of the reaction mixture is not required. [Pg.198]

With mercury(II) nitrate, the five-membered ring peroxide was obtained as an approximately equimolar mixture of isomers, while the 1,2-dioxacyclohexane contained about three times as much trans- as ds-isomer. Peroxymercuration of alkyl-substituted 1,4-penta- and 1,5-hexadienes, followed by demercuration, afforded mixtures of isomeric cyclic alkyl peroxides in yields strongly dependent on the number and position of the substituents175. [Pg.637]
