Peracetate spectrum

The peroxygen compounds, hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid, have high killing activity and a broad spectrum against bacteria, spores, viruses, and fungi when used in appropriate concentration. They have the advantage that their decomposition products are not toxic and do not injure the environment. They are powerful oxidizers that are used primarily as disinfectants and sterilants. [Pg.1164]

It was found that xenocoumacin 1 could be obtained free of acetic acid by evaporation of an aqueous solution containing HCl. The sample (HCl salt) gave a well-resolved H n.m.r. spectrum in D2O, such that the spectrum could be completely assigned by means of decoupling experiments. The peracetate [in CDCls-CeDe (3 2) for best dispersion] gave additional data. A 2D-COSY H- H correlation spectrum was also obtained. [Pg.400]

The use of peracetic acid (PAA) for sterilization has received increasing attention due to deepening concerns about environmental impacts as well as increased needs for cold sterilization. PAA attacks a wide spectrum of microbes [19-22] and maintains sporicidal effects at temperatures even lower than room temperature [23] further it leaves only nontoxic residues [24]. Therefore, PAA-based disinfectants have been widely used in the food and healthcare industries as an effective means of sterilization [25, 26]. PAA is an ideal disinfectant in sterile clean-in-place (CIP) packing systems for plastic bottle beverages because of its rapid sporicidal effect and low-temperature sterilization [26]. [Pg.84]
