People should act quickly and follow the instructions of local emergency coordinators. Ever> situation can be different, so local emergency coordinators might have special instructions for people to follow. 

If people are away from their shelter-in-place location when a chemical event occurs, they should follow the instructions of emergency coordinators to find the nearest shelter. If children are at school, they will be sheltered there. Unless instructed to do so, parents should not try to get to the school to bring their children home. 

Each kind of emergency communication plan must include a list of people who need information or instructions. The plan must include the message or examples of messages, the decision method, the list of people who need the message, and the systems used to implement the commmiications. Records should include when and how an emergency communication was handled and executed. 

Documentation for the Public. The documentation given out consisted of a brochure and a chart. The brochure was a graphic summary of the oral presentation the types of accidents and instructions for the population. It was written in simple language and aimed especially at people who were unaware of the problem. It also listed which radio stations should be listened to in the event of an emergency and the telephone numbers to call in each town for more information.
